Renée's POV
"Subjects of Chea Niva, there is no freedom without chaos and there's no rebuilding without destruction. My grandfather believed in these words as I believe in them too. For years, the monarchy has dominated all of us to submission. It's tyrannical days have come to an end." I gripped the pillow tightly.I still have raw feelings about what Adair almost did to me. The duchess is standing next to him completely unaffected.

"This is treason." A woman next to me informed me.

"Daa Haan will no longer bow to the monarchy! Daa Haan is ready for chaos if it means freedom! Daa Haan is ready to undergo destruction in order to be rebuilt!" He paused. "To the young man striving to be a king, you are not fit for it. You're illegitimate. Yes, Relian is not Cathan's son!" He waved a paternity test close to the camera for everyone to read. I gripped my neck. "Your beloved queen is a homewrecker. Cathan was murdered just like Thalia, a daughter of Daa Haan and the royal family covered it up with their shows and grand gestures. Their theatrics can no longer blind us. They are all flawed and incompetent to rule. We know the story of Dargan! He rained fire on Cray Thera! Thousand upon thousand lost their lives! This is what the monarchy stands for! Murder! Coverups! Dictatorship! None of these are freedom or justice! They amass wealth while the ordinary man starves. Is that mercy? Is that what you want in a leader? The House of Kaelan must burn! The trillions under their name will be distributed to the ordinary man!"

Rowdy cheering followed.

People in the cafe are whispering. I lowered my cap and kept my head down.

"On a more serious matter, Daa Haan is no longer a duchy under Chea Niva. Daa Haan is an independent state!" The whole cafe gasped when the flag of Chea Niva was set ablaze. They are even burning pictures of the king and of the prince. "General Bowie! Any attempt to fly over our sovereign air space will be considered an act of war and we will shoot down your jets! Admiral Cormac. You sir have forty eight hours to get off Daa Haan waters or we will sink you all! We have infiltrated the Daa Haan Naval base. We own it now. Last but not least. To anyone fed up and tired of the monarchy, Daa Haan welcomes you home."

The TV suddenly became blank. I read the words 'no signal' on the screen. People looked distressed. They began to whisper

"What is happening?" The woman next to me asked.

I would ask Reli but he's probably dead. If not, then he got out too!

I was tired of waiting for dinner when I chose to go to the kitchen to ask if there's anything to eat when I noticed that the servants were significantly absent. The hallways were silent too. I knew something was definitely wrong when I saw a servant stuffing a bag with food from the large pantry off the kitchen. When I asked her what she was doing she said they have been told to leave the palace. When I asked who gave the order, she looked at me and said that it was Nilsa who gave the order.

She ran away and I would have followed because of the strong urge that compelled me to but I thought of Reli and the idea was to find him. Unfortunately, I couldn't when guns started getting fired. I had no idea where he was or where to start looking.

Trusting that he will be okay and knowing that if it's indeed Nilsa that I'll be used as leverage, I left the palace, following the servants through the back gate.

"This is so bad!" A young woman got close to me. "This is... my family is in Daa Haan."

"I'm so sorry." I told her.

"This is bad. Why isn't the palace saying anything?"

The signal suddenly returned.

"Subjects of Chea Niva." Nilsa paused after the solemn start. "Including Daa Haan, my name is Nilsa, the crown princess. I'm afraid I stand before you with sad news. Late last night, the Golden Palace was infiltrated by unknown assailants claiming to be followers of Adair. They mercilessly killed innocent servants, royal guards carrying out their duties and.. " she turned aside avoiding the camera. "...and our beloved prince, the rightful heir to the throne. They also killed the Queen Mother, my grandmother, an old frail woman who wouldn't hurt a fly. My mother and I made it to the bunker before they got to us. We were saved this morning by brace royal guards who survived the attack. This message is for Stoll Adair. I am coming for you!"
