Carperia
Prince Relian's POV
I gave the pictures one last scroll after reading the medical report sent to me by the doctor who examined Renée. It upsets me to see her bruised like this. I have so many questions to ask her but I couldn't do it over the phone and I wasn't sure if she would be willing to talk about it.

Renée is a beautiful girl. I do not think I am the only man in CN who shares my opinion. She's young and her warmth is an attraction. It makes me worry just like I would worry about any other woman in her situation that Adair and his men might have abused her.

I badly want to ask her but how does such a conversation even begin?

I offered my phone to my grandmother. It's often a wrong  move because she goes through my phone when she gets a chance. She meddles, ask questions and the worst part is I can't take it from her. She actually dares me to. I can definitely snatch it back if it was my mom or dad but not her.
This time though, she won't be going through my phone. She's too shocked with the pictures of Renée to be nosy about other things.

"Where is she?"

"In Saine Neane."

"Alone? Have you seen her?"

"I have. I was with her this morning."

"And you came back here and left her there?" She asked in an accusing tone.

I have a valid reason. It was such a conflicting situation because I never want to let her out of my sight but I can't bring home another potential wife for Nilsa to murder. Renée can never visit the Golden Palace until Nilsa is no more. As to when that will be, I'm not sure.

"She's not alone."

"I hope it's not Xanth who is babysitting! I assure you when she's weak he will do more than watch her."

"It's not Xanth. He's too busy serving as my eyes and ears at the base. I have already arrested 18 who are working for Adair."

"That's progress." She squeezed my arm. "But who is she with? I can see Barlowe over there."

"I left her with armed guards from the base. She's not allowed to leave the hotel suite. She should be fine."

"This looks bad Reli. Adair himself did this."

"Yes." Renée cried so much as she told me about everything even the fake pregnancy she thought would buy her more time.

"I'm going to ask this and I hope you two talked about it because it can ruin intimacy between you two. Did Adair rape her?"

"Renée said he almost did. She assures me nothing happened."

"I feel you should bring her here. I know the army needs you and that may choke out any time you have for her. She shouldn't be alone. Bring her to me so that I can take care of her and you can see her when you can."

"That sounds like a great idea." I turned my attention to Arrla.  She's such a lazy creature. "Mental note, please send her to Saine Neane. Please."

Nilsa hates her and I can't put it past her to kill Arrla.

"How do I mail a tiger to you?"

"Tell Barlowe." He's keeping his distance from my grandmother and I because of how close by Arrla is. "I can't bring Renée here."

"Why not?"

"I fear that the same thing that happened to Thalia will happen to Renée. Grandmother, I know who killed Thalia. It's Nilsa."

"Reli! Don't... I can't believe it. " She covered her mouth. "That's not right. But why?"

"That's what we don't know."
