Chapter 16

"Haymitch!" I call out. Nothing. "Haymitch!" Please don't tell me he left me too. I sigh. Wait. I reach into my back pocket and pull out what Haymitch put in there. A letter. What's with all the letters I'm getting. I have a feeling this one wont be a good one, considering what all the other letters said. It reads,

Sweetheart,

I forgot something that we needed back in District 12. It could help and it could also not help to get Peeta back. But it's worth a shot. I'll be back in a few days. Good luck.

Haymitch

What could be so important that he had to go get? How would it help get Peeta back? Why couldn't he just tell me what he was getting. Well I guess I wont find out till he gets back. Back to why I can here. Where does Gale live now? Or would he take Peeta and Delly to a different house? I start walking forward towards where I think the town square would be. As I get closer I see more and more people. Some glare, some whisper, some give me questioning looks and only maybe one or two people give me a slight smile. I reach the square and stop. Looking around I see that most people are outside enjoying the nice weather. How an I going to find where Gale is? I think to myself. Maybe if I ask enough people then one might be nice and tell me. I start walking toward the nearest person. It's a girl that looks about a year or two older than me. Her back is turned to me so that I don't scare her I lightly say,

"excuse me." She turns around and faces me. She has green eyes that remind me of Finnick's green eyes.

"what do you want?" she snaps at me rudely. Well, I guess she thinks I cheated on Peeta. Who am I kidding everyone but Haymitch, Prim and my mom thinks I cheated on Peeta.

"I was wondering if you knew where Gale Hawthorne lives?" I ask.

"why? so you can go make out with him and break poor Peeta's heart more!" she snaps at me then turns on her heels and walks away. Well I guess it was a bad idea asking a question with Gale's name in it. I walk around and ask a few more people if they have seen Peeta around here instead of using Gale's name. Most of them reply with "why would you care your with Gale now!" or "you broke his heart and now you want to break even more!" but the most common one was "get a life he knows that you have moved on!". I get tired of hearing all those rude comments throw at me. I walk till there's no one in sight. I sit down on the grass and look out into the distance. 

"it's nice out here isn't it." I hear a girls voice say. I don't turn back or answer because if they saw or heard my voice they would know it's me and yell at me too. She sits down next to me. "you know you can talk to me I wont make any comments."

"you wont?" I ask while turning my head to face her. She shakes her head. She looks familiar. " do I know you? you look familiar." 

"you knew my little sister." she answers.

"who's you little sister?" I ask. She gets a tears in her eyes.

"Rue." I gasp. Rue the little 12 year old girl who was chosen for The Hunger Games. The little girl I allied with and felt sorry for. The little girl I tried to save but couldn't. The little girl who died too young....

"I'm so sorry." I say. I feel a tear slide down my cheek.

 "it's ok you didn't kill her, you tried to save her and that's all I could ask for, for you to try and save her."She's really nice and I like that not many people are being nice to me right now. "so I heard that your looking for Peeta?" She asks changing the subject.

"yeah I am and before you start on me cheating on him I just want to say that I didn't. Gale was the one who kissed me not the other way around." I say.

"don't worry I didn't believe you kissed Gale for one second anyways."

"you didn't?" I ask surprised. She shakes her head.

"I knew that you were in love with Peeta and no one else and nothing could change that."

"you know I'm surprised that you believed me when I told you that I didn't cheat." I say. She laughs.

"yeah, I can see people are giving you a hard time."

"no kidding." I roll my eyes. " so what are you doing in District 2? I thought that your family lived in District 11 from the last time I heard.." I say the last part quietly so that she doesn't start crying again.

"following you." she says. Wait, what?

"what? why are you following me?" I ask. She smiles at me and for some reason I smile back.

"remember what I said. I didn't believe that you kissed Gale so I wanted to know why Peeta believed you did." She explains. "so do you know why Peeta believed you kissed Gale?" she adds.

"umm well, on the train other here a woman named Mia suggested that maybe it was some kind of flashback. I think that could be true too because he does get these flashback side effects sometimes, where he can't really think straight and can't believe things." I answer.

"does he still get flashbacks or does he just get the side effects?" she asks.

"he will sometimes get flashbacks but most of the time it's just the side effects." We sit in silence for a bit till I ask "so do you know where Gale might be?"

" I don't know for sure but I do have a few ideas where he might be."

Peeta's POV

I'm in a dark room, tied to a chair and I haven't had anything to eat in two days. Can my life get any better? Sarcasm. They haven't done anything to me other than punch me a few times. I don't know where Delly is or even if she's ok. I also don't get why they took Delly because what has she ever done to them? The door creaks open and someone flicks on the light. Gale and Travis drag Delly into the room. She has dried up blood on her shirt and pants.

"why are you doing that to her? what has she ever done to you?" I ask. They drop Delly on the ground and Gale walks over to me.

"Peeta, Peeta, Peeta you don't get it she's important to you so we will do what ever we want to her."

"that doesn't make any sense."

"a lot of things don't make sense Peeta." he says and pulls a knife out of his pocket.

ok so the next chapter is almost done and i am going to watch Taken 2!! so the next chapter will be up later tonight. by the way anyone who does bother to read this comment and tell what you think of the story. only 2 people have comment before but i would still like to know if more than 2 people are still reading this. bye:)
