Quick note: remember that explaining things chapter 🙃
Tw: (I know you're done with these tws but I'm sorry plot) Allister dream shit again. Implied suicide
THIRD PERSON (Allister centered):The long streets near Toby's house seemed to stretch endlessly, the sound of the ocean never getting quieter no matter how far Allister ran from them, no matter how far the last street light seemed.
Behind her, the looming sounds of bath water running increased, the soft sigh Allister remembered so clearly.
16 year old Allister.
Toby's house never seemed any closer no matter how fast Allister ran. The past still made itself the present in her dreams.
Somewhere in front of her, a woman stood.
Allister slowed down.
This wasn't the one that showed itself previously.
This one seemed warm, welcoming. She had blonde hair. Her hair was long.
Her smile was broad.
"Who are you?" A phone call sounded on the background.
"I'm you, of course. Most of us are."
"What do you need from me?"
"It's time to wake up. You need to take your anxiety pills."
"But they're in Toby's house!" Allister cried as the woman faded away. A second phone call rang.
Fear gripped at her lungs and she felt like she couldn't breathe.
She ran for the house again, running as fast as she could. It never seemed closer.
A third phone call. It was Hannah.
Allister couldn't breathe. She couldn't. Toby's house was so close though. Her anxiety medication was in there, through the front door, past the kitchen...
A fourth phone call. Allister wanted to pick it up. She did, truly. But she couldn't. She was too close, almost too far.
A fifth.
Allister stepped onto Toby's porch. Just need the anxiety meds. Through the front door...
A sixth.
Past the kitchen, up the stairs.
The seventh phone call from Hannah. The last one. On the dresser, no the phone was on the counter Allister you just need to pick it up—
You need your anxiety pills, Allister. Anxiety pills.
Allister can't breathe. The water closed in around her, she was so close. She should've picked up the call.
Arms reached down and grabbed her shoulders, bringing her up out of the water.
The woman in the tan trench coat held her.
"You need to wake up." The woman pushed her back into the water.
Someone was holding her shoulders again. It was Tommy, they were in the lake.
"No!" Allister screamed.
Tommy looked taken aback. Now they were on the bed. Yesterday.
"What?"
"No!" Allister said again. "Let me wake up please— just let me wake up."
"Allister. Calm down." Tommy said.
"I can't! It keeps replaying— where are my anxiety meds I just need my anxiety meds and it'll all go away!"
