𝑊𝑖𝑑𝑒 𝐸𝑦𝑒𝑠 ~ 𝐴 𝑆𝑎𝑘𝑢𝑎𝑡𝑠𝑢 𝑆𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑦 (𝑆𝑘𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑟 𝐴𝑈)

Atsumu and Sakusa walked down the long hallway, getting closer to the lobby. They could hear sounds of chattering people and contestants being congratulated. They emerged and looked around, Atsumu trying to find Mr. Kai or Dakota. From behind the desk came Izuku, spotting Atsumu and Sakusa and heading over to them.

"Hey Atsumu! Anything I can help you out with?" he asked.

"Oh um, do ya know anything about Dakota Kai? She's competing today."

"Oh yeah! She just finished, that group should be heading out any time now. Oh by the way, you'll be starting to warm up in about half an hour so I'll come get you from your room." he replied.

"Awesome, thanks Isuku." The green haired boy walked away to go help other people and Atsumu and Sakusa continued their search.

Atsumu didn't notice the gapes and awed looks he got from his costume until a little boy ran up to him and hugged him around the legs. Startled, the blond looked down into brown eyes and a smiling kid.

"Uncle Tsumu! Your outfit is sooooo cool! It looks just like fire!" Takeru Oikawa said.

"Takeru! I see ya convinced yer uncle to let ya come see my absolutely amazing performance?" he said, rubbing the boy's hair and wiggling his eyebrows.

"Yeah, I did!"

"Where is he anyways?" Atsumu asked, looking around.

"Oh, he and Uncle Iwa are coming now, I ran ahead cause I saw you." he responded.

And sure enough, out of the thick of people, he spotted his best friend and his best friend's boyfriend walking towards them hand in hand.

"Hey, ya guys made it!" he said, hugging them both as the group exchanged hellos.

"Obviously. We wouldn't miss it for the world. Tendou sends his love and he says he's really sorry he couldn't make it as I'm sure he texted you like 100 times."

"Yep, it's too bad Wakatoshi got sick but I'm glad Tendou is staying home with him. He woulda just been worried the whole time if he came." he replied.

"Yeah, well I promised Takeru we could get some cotton candy before you compete and I wanna get the best seats so I'll see you after the performance. I know you'll do amazing, okay? You've worked so hard and I'm so proud of you." Oikawa said, giving Atsumu another hug.

"Thanks Kawa."

"Hey, we're rooting for you Tsumu. Knock em' dead." Iwaizumi said, slapping Atsumu on the back.

As the three of them departed, the pair heard someone shout Atsumu's name. Looking over, they spotted Mr. Kai waving at them and a confused looking Dakota. She looked to where her dad was waving and when she spotted Atsumu her eyes lit up and her jaw dropped. He rushed over excitedly, Sakusa following closely behind, smiling fondly at the blond.

"Hi! Hi hi hi! Oh my god ya were amazing! I've heard so much about ya from yer dad!"

"I- you- how do you... my dad? You're... you're Atsumu Miya." she said, stuttering over her words, still looking at Atsumu with wide eyes.

"I am, hahaha! I met yer dad when you were performing and I said I would love to meet ya!"

"But I- I'm a HUGE fan you don't... you don't understand. You mean like... the world to me! I cannot believe this is happening."

"Dakota, that means so much to me. I am SO SO happy ya enjoy watching me skate because I love doing it so much. And I'm also so happy I could help ya," he said, smiling and tapping the pin on her jacket he saw earlier "when ya needed someone there for you. And I want ya to know, I will always be there for you, okay?" She looked at him, eyes a little wet, smiling widely.

"Did dad tell you?"

"Yeah he did. I know it must have been so hard but I'm really proud of ya. It takes a lot of bravery to do what ya did." he said to the girl, who wrapped her small arms around Atsumu and hugged him tightly. The blond smiled and squeezed her back. "If it's okay with you, I'd like ya to have my number so whenever ya need someone, you can just give me a call, okay?"

"Really? I can have your number and just... like, call you?" he said, awed.

"Yeah, yer my number one supporter afterall!"

They exchanged numbers and finally waved goodbye, Dakota and her dad heading out the doors and Sakusa and Atsumu heading back to the dressing room.

"You're too good, you know that?" Sakusa said quietly when they were further away from the crowded lobby.

"What do ya mean?" he replied, smiling.

"You're the kindest person I've ever met. No matter who it is, or what the circumstances are, you always put other people before yourself. I admire you so much for it." he said, wrapping one arm around the shorter's shoulders.

"Awh, Omi's being such a sweetheart today, huh?" Atsumu said, pinching the taller's cheek and giggling. Sakusa just chuckled and they walked back to the dressing room.

After that, it was all a blur. Izuku came in and walked him out to the ice while Samu, Suna, and Sakusa were shown to their seats.

He warmed up.

He listened to his background track.

He visualized his moves and worked on the footwork one last time.

Nezari went before him but he wasn't allowed to watch his performance. He heard his heart pounding in his chest and the screams and cheers from the stadium which was bigger than he ever could have imagined. His hands shook and he clasped them together in his lap, taking deep, steadying breaths. Finally, after a bit, Izuku came back and gave the blond a warm, encouraging smile.

"It's time, Atsumu-san." he said. Atsumu stood up, filled his lungs, and let a harsh breath out again.

"It's fucking time."

Ya-hoo boos!

So we're finally there!!! Next chapter Tsumu will skate, wether it ends with a win or loss!

So for the 20k special, I still have not decided what to write yet and with the start of the new semester I am a tad bit busy but it will be out and posted as soon as I have it written!!! In the meantime tho... I'd like to have a QnA!
