'Oh, really. That's too bad, Mr. Worthington. I would've paid a lot for that mirror,' you said, sounding as stately and regal as you could sound over the phone, while, you were slumped in the backseat, as Dean drove the three of you back to your motel.
'Okay. Maybe, next time. Alright, thanks.' You hung up.
'So?' Dean asked.
'So, that was Mary's brother. The mirror was in the family for years until he sold it. One week ago. To a store called Estate Antiques. A store in Toledo.'
'So, wherever the mirror goes,' Sam pieced it together, 'that's where Mary goes?'
'Her spirit's definitely tied up with it somehow.'
'Isn't that old superstition that mirrors can capture spirits?' Dean asked.
'Yeah, there is,' Sam agreed. 'Uh, when someone would die in the house, people would cover their mirrors, so that the ghost wouldn't get trapped.'
'So, Mary dies in front of the mirror,' you initiated.
Dean agreed, 'Yeah, it draws in her spirit.'
'Yeah, but how can she move in, like, hundred different mirrors?'
'I don't know,' you said, 'but if the mirrors the source, I say we find it and smash it.'
'Yeah, I don't know,' Sam said unsurely. 'Maybe.'
Sam's phone rang. He answered it, 'Hello? Charlie?'
You three took a very quick detour towards where Charlie was. You brought her to your motel room. You were currently covering everything that could display your reflection with blankets, towels and your jackets, the brothers helping you. Charlie was rocking back and forth on Sam's bed, scared out of her mind.
Sam gestured for you to put down a few photo frames that could have a reflection while Dean covered the television set. You did that while Sam spoke to Charlie.
'Hey. Hey, it's okay. You can open up your eyes now, Charlie, it's okay. All right, now, listen. You're gonna stay right here, on this bed. And you're not gonna look at glass or anything that has a reflection, okay? Now, as long as you do that, she cannot get to you.'
'But I can't keep that up forever,' she said in a terrified voice, tears dripping down her eyes. 'I'm gonna die, aren't I?'
'No,' you said firmly. 'No, not anytime soon.'
'All right Charlie,' Dean said, sitting beside her and you took place beside Sam on Dean's bed. 'We need to know what happened.'
Charlie told you, 'We were in the bathroom. Donna said it.'
'That's not what we're talking about,' you retorted. She looked up at you, with slightly wide eyes. 'Something happened, didn't it? In your life. A secret. Where someone got hurt.'
You frankly related to her. You mean, how many dead loved ones had you seen? Just about four, maybe five. And how many loved ones had you let down? All of them died because of you. You doubted that whatever Charlie would say could be worse than what you had done. She genuinely seemed like a good person, she wouldn't purposely hurt anyone, would she?
Charlie looked down in guilt and pain. Dean asked her gently, 'Can you tell us about it?'
'I had this boyfriend,' she opened up, 'I loved him, but he kinda scared me too you know? And, one night, at his house, we got in this fight and I broke up with him. And he got upset and said that he needed me and he loved me. And he said: "Charlie if you walk out that door right now, I'm gonna kill myself". And you know what I said? I said: "Go ahead". And I left. How could I say that? How could I leave him like that? I just . . . I didn't believe him, you know? I should've.'
