this story won't contain Zayn's departure, neither will my next one.

"You, with your word like knives and swords and weapons that you use against me,

Got me feeling like a nothing,

You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard calling me out when I'm wounded,

Picking on the weaker man..."

I don't know what to think.

She's not here with me but she's running through my mind, constantly. I'd love to say I'm getting used to it but with everyone else talking about us it starts to bother me.

The thought of us not actually being together and having to correct my friends or even family about our relationship, hurts.

It hurts a lot.

Knowing I could fix that problem but I'm scared of rejection, I've also recently become scared of all the baggage that will come along with me.

The hate of the fans and media takes its toll on me but I won't let it hit Shannon. She's too good for that.

"Niall, just tell her. Don't be a pussy and wait any longer."

"Really? And how long did you wait to tell Lauren your feelings?" I questioned Louis back, over the phone. "Over two months!" I hear a faint shout from Lauren in the back ground.

"Loz!" Louis snaps. Chuckling to myself I close the fridge and sigh once I find it doesn't contain food I feel like eating. "Okay but you guys just hit your two month mark of knowing each other, tell her now. If you don't hurry up you'll miss your chance Niall and trust me, you'll regret it."

"Well thank you Dr. Phil but I'm sure I can take everything from here!" I joke.

He laughs before we both bid goodbye. Placing my phone back down it starts the familiar ringtone again, I'm quick to answer it.

"Hey Niall?"

"Mhm? Whaddaya' want Cameron?"

"Great to here from you too." Sarcasm slips through the phone. "Well, my girlfriend and your soon to be girlfriend are out shopping so I thought we could meet at the pub and the girls will meet us there too."

"She's not my girlfriend." I bite back.

Everyone pressuring me about Shannon has really put me on edge today. It's normally a good sign. That we are being seen or liked together but it annoys you after you realise that I have no hope of being with a girl like Shannon.

"That's all you got from what I said?"

"I'm just sick of being asked or pestered about Shannon and I, we're friends, that's it. Nothing more, nothing less."

"Niall you should think before you say stuff like that. It might actually rack with your true feelings for her." I hear him snicker at his own lame joke.

"Cam, seriously. Shannon is what I look for in a girl but everybody else doesn't see me with a girl like that."

"Everybody else?" He asks in confusion.

"The fans, management and the media. I might still seem normal to you but there's another side my life that we forget about. I can already picture the hate she's gonna get-" I chuckle as I think of the pathetic headlines I've heard before about girls that I've been seen with.

"Ni, if you like her than just-"

"-Shannon Phillips, the waitress lowlife that wishes she dated Niall Horan-" I whip my head around thinking I could hear footsteps but it's probably just through the phone call.

"Mate, listen to yourself-"

"I'm listening to the magazine headlines Cam, I don't want her hurt."

Pulling up to the pub I smile as I haven't seen Shannon all day thanks to her shopping trip with Megan.

She didn't answer my phone calls so I'm hoping she'll tell me about it when I get inside. Now I sound like a love struck teenager.

Walking inside I notice Cameron and Megan but not the girl I'm looking for. Bathroom maybe?

"Hey guys." I greet them. Cam gives me a nod but the smile Megan gives me seems forced. Brushing it off I sit down and order my usual.

Cameron and I keep our conversation up about a charity football gala day that I invited him to for my team, whereas Megan seems glued to her phone screen. I've submitted a team, the charity raises money to help those in need of better homes for safety reasons. Like everything Shannon grew up with. Gambling, alcohol, drugs and abuse. No one should have to go through that.

I don't mention that part to Cam but now that I think of it, I realize Shannon still isn't here. "Hey Meg, I thought Shan was coming with you?"

"She was but then she felt sick and asked me to drop her home, she's okay though. Just not feeling hundred percent."

I nod but feel disappointed that she's not coming. Why didn't she text me abut her not coming?

Beer after beer dawns on me and the more I consume the lazier I feel. My feet feel unstable and I happen to be falling asleep in my stool.

"Alright champ, let's get you home." I see Cam in my face.

"Why did you let him drink this much?" I here a female voice, Megan.

"He just wouldn't stop. I get it though, we had a very interesting phone call today. Just let him have his moment to forget."

They both nod and leave me in the backseat of Meg's car while she drives mine home for me. "Niall, stay awake for me man. I know for a fact that your heavier than you look."

I try my best and manage to make my way home with open eyes. As Cameron helps me inside the last thing I see as my eyelids flutter shut is Shannon in her window, closing her curtain at the sight of me.
