ENJOY YOUR DAY :) AND ADORE THIS MANLY PHOTO OF NIALL, HES ALL GROWN UP :(

N I A L L

As I pry away from Scarlett's death grip on my arm I let out a sigh of relief, seems like this afternoon was full of clingy girls and ungrateful comments.

Sure, it was fun at the beginning with Scarlett but I came here to spend time with Shannon. Not some fan who gets easily jealous.

As I slip into the front seat of the car I ring Shannon to ask where she is, she couldn't have gone far. "When you try your best but you don't succeed."

I turn around to see Shannon asleep against Theo in his baby seat in the same position. Sighing to myself I let my head hit against the steering wheel as I end the phone call which also puts and end to the Coldplay song coming out of Shannon's phone.

Way to go Niall.

You came here to ask your crush on a date but you end up replacing her with some annoying barbie. Good on you.

Soft snores escape the two behind me and I manage to smile a real grin, I pull out my phone again to take a picture. The flash automatically goes on as it is quite dark outside and Shannon groans in her sleep. "No... Niall... don't leave me." She mumbles.

My head jerks at the sound of my name. Why was she dreaming about me?

Her eyebrows are furrowed and she keeps a confused or angry expression on her face. The sound of my phone ringing catches my attention again. GREG, the caller ID reads. I answer and raise the phone to my ear slowly.

"Niall? Where are ya?" He asks.

"I'm at the ice rink still, we'll be leaving soon, don't worry."

"It's me wife that's panicking Ni, if you don't have Theo home in twenty minutes then we'll both be dead men."

I smile at him and even manage a chuckle, "Okay, we'll be there soon."

"You alright Ni? You sound a bit... down?"

"Yeah, I'm... peachy, I guess."

"Alright, see you soon."

"By-" Greg disconnects the call and I start the ignition, checking over Shannon and Theo, I buckle them up.

The drive seems longer without Shannon's laughter filling my ears, something I'm familiar with now. We're quite inseparable.

Pulling into my driveway, Greg waves at me from the porch. I wave back and hop out of the car to unbuckle Theo quietly so he stays asleep. Greg gives me a thumbs up as he takes his son from my arms. "You better take your girl home." He smirks, talking about the sleeping Shannon in the back seat.

Girlfriend, I wish.

Not even bothering to give a smart remark back to Greg I sigh and start the car again to only drive down two houses.

As I wrap my arms around Shannon's curvy waist, I scoop her up and take her to the porch. Opening the door, because it's always unlocked, I decide against going up the stairs and lay her on the lounge.

As I drape a blanket over her a loud bark comes from Charlie. "Shh, boy." He's gotten a lot larger since Shannon and I first found him, he's definitely one intelligent dog.

"You want some food buddy?" I coo at him. We both go up the stairs and I pull out the dog biscuits from under the sink. "Alright, 'ere you go bud." I finish pouring the food in his bowl and watch the puppy guzzle it down in a flash.

I head back downstairs to see Shannon looking at me with a tired expression, "Hey, how 'bout we get you to bed?"

She shakes her head, "I can take myself to bed." I wince at her harsh tone.

"Alright? I guess I'll see you tomorrow then?" I ask hopefully. Shan just shrugs with an annoyed expression on her face. "Maybe," She says," I have work and tomorrow's the last day your family stays... so, I don't know."

"But... I always pick you up from work."

"Well, don't let me stop you." She shrugs.

I furrow my eyebrows, "So do you want me to pick you up or not, I'm confused." Shannon sighs and walks down the hallway, completely ignoring the question.

"Shan," I follow her, determined to get an answer, "Do you want me to pick you up, or not?"

"Do whatever you want Niall, I don't care." She shrugs as we make it to her room, I look at her alarm clock; 9:34pm. It's late, she's grumpy and I have an inkling it's because of what happened at the rink with Scarlett.

"Shan- "

"Niall! What are you still doing here?" Shannon snaps, letting her temper out.

"I just want to know, do you or do you not want me to pick you up from work tomorrow?" I say, my voice raising a little bit.

"Well that depends, is it going to end up like this afternoon or are we going to actually hang out?" I let my hand glide through my hair as I sigh, I knew this was the problem and I shouldn't of let it happen.

"I'm sorry, your right, I took you and Theo out so I should of hung out with you two, not Scarlett." Shannon huffs at my answer and disappears into the bathroom. I roll my eyes at her stubbornness and take a seat on the end of her bed. Charlie comes in and lays beside my legs, I give him a little pet.

Shannon comes back into the room in pyjama shorts and her nirvana tee-shirt, lying under the covers in her bed Charlie lays beside her. "You should go home Niall, spend time with your family."

"It's quarter to ten at night Shannon, they don't really feel like socialising right now." I say and fold my arms across my chest at her childish behaviour.

"Yeah well, neither do I, so go home." She rolls over and turns off her lamp on her bed side table. I clench my jaw at her words, as I reach her door I turn around. The anger bubbles in my throat and I tell myself to let it out.

"By the way, this afternoon was fun for me, you didn't need to ruin it." As soon as the words slip from lips I regret them as I watch Shannon cuddle into the comforter more.

Slowly I shut the door and shake my head at myself.

Niall Horan you are one idiot.
