S H A N N O N

You know when you've lost something important to you and no matter how hard you look, you can't find it?

Then there's that little voice telling you to look in one certain place and you know that it definitely couldn't be hiding there.

The aggravating feeling when you finally give up and feel like you've achieved nothing but still, that annoying voice is still there and for the sake of getting rid of it you look through that particular spot.

There it is. This is it.

You just found what your looking for, it was there all along. All you have to thank is that stupid little voice at the back of your head.

At the end of the day, that voice isn't stupid, it isn't annoying and it what you needed all along.

Niall, Niall is what I needed all along.

Right now I don't care if I'm crying into his shirt, or if I'll forever be afraid he's going to leave me. He's mine and he's holding me, keeping me safe from my own nightmares.

That's all that matters.

"I don't think I'll ever understand it."

"You will, trust me."

"Well," I giggled, "I don't see a reason why I shouldn't."

"Don't worry, you don't have to understand. You just have to cope while I yell and scream at TV. You'll probably have to cope when I take you to see a live game soon." Niall gave me a wink.

"Looking forward to it." I smiled back, clutching onto the pillow beneath my head. My legs draped over Niall's as I lay down on his lounge.

After three tantrums at the referee, two packets of lightly salted chips and one drink spillage, we're about halfway through the derby game.

"Oh," Niall yells, "Come on!"

Here comes tantrum number four.

Many colourful words escape his mouth and a few cause me to cringe, his face softens once his eyes land on me though. "You," I begin, "... are insane."

"Like you said, you just don't understand."

"I think I do now. It's just a sport, it's not life or death." I reply, shrugging my shoulders lightly. He shakes his head as the program goes to commercials, then sits back down beside me. I pull my knees up to my chest, wrapping my arms around my shins. My eyes watch Niall, studying every little thing about him.

I watch his chest float up and then go down as he breathes. I watch his blue eyes light up as the TV screen brightens. He truly is beautiful.

My phone starts to vibrate uncontrollably beside me, making me jump. I look to my phone below, surprised to see an unknown number calling.

I glance at Niall who is already staring at me. "Who is it?" He asks. I shrug in reply and finally answer my phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey, this is Shannon right? It's Megan by the way."

I smile at the thought of Megan, I haven't heard of her since the night Niall and I went to the pub. I know Niall's been hanging with his mates a bit less since I've been around and I feel a bit bad.

"Hey, yeah it's me!" I awkwardly reply.

Megan laughs before talking again, "Well, I'm finally back in town after visiting my parents and I was wondering if you wanted to hangout soon?"

"Yeah, sure, I'd love too."

"Great! We'll probably just go shopping then meet the boys at the pub we went to last time, I'll text you the details right now." I can practically hear her smile through the phone.

"Okay, thanks. It's great to hear from you by the way."

"You too! I'm sorry I didn't text you sooner it's just things haven't been alright with Cameron and..."

"Oh,I'm sorry to hear that, Don't worry you can tell me all about it when we go out."

"Thanks. It's nice having a new girl in our little Irish gang. Normally Niall flirts around with them then let's them go." That comment hit a nerve.

"Well, hopefully I'm permanent.."
I joke.

"Don't worry," Megan laughs, "I have a feeling you will be."

"Okay Megan..."

We bid each other goodbye and hang up. I turn to face Niall as I drop my phone on the coffee table.

"Was that Megan?" He asks in a gruff voice.

"Yeah."

"What's she want?"

"She just wants to hangout and catch up, gee, what's got your knickers in a knot?" I ask him, referring to his stuff structure and demanding voice.

"Nothin'" He says.

I sigh, "If you say so."

Leaning over I wrap my arms around his shoulders while I peck his cheek, "Would you like me to make us dinner?" I smile at him.

Niall nods and leaves a small kiss on my jaw. I scurry to the kitchen and begin cooking, wishing things could stay like this forever.

But you can't always get what you wish for.
