You look so wonderful in your dress,

I love your hair like that,

The way it falls down the side of your neck,

Down your shoulders and back.

I sit down and look at her face again as she sips her drink ever so gracefully, her hands wrap around the mug to keep warm, I presume.

"So, how come you decided to move to the Winsfield estate?" I ask.

Shannon sits up a bit, "It just looked like a nice area, my dad recommended it to me. Although, the house needed a bit of a fix up."

"Yeah, everyone could see the lawn getting too long but I've never seen much beyond that." She chuckles a bit at my statement.

"The painting inside really needs work, but besides that I've got most of it polished and cleaned up." I nod and take a sip of my own drink which was a mistake, it is far too hot.

I place my hand over my mouth and force myself to swallow the burning liquid, a cough stops it and little splutters end up going onto the table.

Shannon notices my struggle but keeps quiet, laughing silently to herself. I bite my lip in embarrassment, "So tell me, did you really mow that lawn all by yourself?" I ask, trying to cover up my incident.

"Uh no, my brother came round for a visit and I forced him to do it." She hands me over a napkin and gestures to my spillage.

I smile at her as a thank you. "How did you keep your lawn looking nice while you were away?" She seems to be good at small talk which is great, I'm not good at it so she can keep asking the question, making up for my lack of talking.

"I had, uh, a neighbour look after it." I hesitate in telling her the real answer, I had a gardener do it.

She nods, "Which neighbour?"

"Jeremy, who lives across the road." Smooth Niall, smooth.

"Mhm, I saw someone different doing it once, someone who worked for Gary's Gardening Service?" She smirks, taking yet another drink.

I scoff a bit, scratching the nap of my neck. Busted.

"Yeah, Jeremy didn't really do my lawn." I give off a nervous laugh.

She laughs, which makes my lips curl into a smile. "So, why did you lie?"

"I didn't want you to think I was a pop-star snob." Not bothering to lie again.

She looked down and smiled at her cup, her finger started tracing the brim of the mug, sometimes causing a scratching noise as her nail would scrape.

It's strange how I like to observe how she does things.

"What did you want me to think of you?" She asks.

I rest my chin on my hand, "That I'm just Niall Horan, a boy from Ireland and happens to live two houses down."

"Ok, well then maybe you should just be Niall Horan?" Her statement comes out as a question, I'm not sure if it was rhetorical or not.

"What do you mean?"

"If you want people to treat you like Niall Horan a boy from Ireland, then just act like Niall Horan." She shrugs as if it were that simple.

"But people judge other people, it's kind of hard to be yourself." I say, I don't understand why this argument is so important to me, normally I would just let it go.

"Who are they judging? You, Niall Horan, pop-star, or Niall Horan a boy from Ireland that happens to live two houses away from me."

Her question is a hard one at the least. She smirks when she doesn't hear me answer, "Well played, Phillips."

She nods her head in triumph, I take a sip of my own drink and it has cooled down enough for me to have it.

"So I heard you talking to Maree, about me."

I look up again, blushing. "Well... uh- what did you hear exactly?"

"You a bit nervous there Niall?" She ask. How does she have so much confidence in talking?

"I was at first but... it's nice getting to know you." That causes a smile to appear, good to know I'm getting somewhere.

"I haven't seen many kids in this area." She says.

"Really? There's kids next door to me, a few streets back there are quite a lot of children, they play in the park though."

Her eyes widen and she sits up, "There's a park here?"

"Yeah, like four blocks away from here." I say.

She nods her head but I can still see the excitement bubbling in her facial expressions. With the courage that I have left I ask her, "Do you want to go to the par-"

She cuts me off, "Yes."

I laugh at her, "I mean, I'd like that." She corrects herself.

Maree comes over to us, "I'll put your drinks in a take away cup, just a sec."

She scurries away smiling, leaving Shannon and I laughing, obviously she was listening to our conversation.

We walk over to the coat rack, "So, have you got any other friends around here?"

"No actually, I moved here from Australia."

I furrow my eyebrows, "Your accent doesn't really sound Australian?"

"I'm half Irish and quarter Australian, I also have a bit of an American background."

"Wow, that's..."

She nods her head, "Quite a few cultures, eh."

I help her pull her coat up and she thanks me, Maree comes over again, with takeaway cups. I can already see a note on the side of mine.

"Thanks Maree." Shannon says.

"No worries, have fun at the park."

I laugh at how she listened to our conversation, pushing the door open for Shannon a cold gust of wind floods in, leaving her cheeks flustered.

It's cute, at the least.

"Shall we?" She asks.

"We shall."
