The next morning, I awake to the smell of fresh ground coffee. I looked around the room and saw that Andre has already gotten out of bed. I must have been really tired for him to be able to stir around and not wake me. Getting up from the bed, I go to the bathroom to shower and get myself ready.
Our wedding practice and rehearsal dinner would be this evening. Darah and LaShae would be staying with me, while Andre and the guys would hang out at LaShae and Sean's home. I can't believe tomorrow is the day, the day I take the next step and become Mrs. Hassan. A smile swept across my face. I started thinking about my future with Dre. I was scared but excited.
Before exiting the shower, I said a prayer and asked God to always lead and guide us. After getting myself dressed, I made my way to the kitchen. My dad looked up.
"There's my baby. How are you feeling, Danielle?"
I told him that I felt blessed and that I'm so happy. I ran and threw my arms around my daddy and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you so much for always loving and supporting me. I love you so much daddy."
My mom walked up and I soon grabbed her up in a bear hug, kissed her on the cheek and told her I love her. My mom and I have always been close, but more so now that I'm a young adult.
Soon everyone started trailing into the kitchen. I looked around and our family and friends were still here with me. My eyes laid on Jaxon as he walked towards me.
"Good morning baby girl. Good morning everyone."
Everyone spoke back and I hugged my friend. Jaxon leaned down and kissed me on my forehead.
"Did you sleep well?" I asked him.
He said it was the best sleep he'd had in a long while. In a whisper tone he told me it was because he knew he was close to me. Looking up at him, I kissed him on his cheek and asked him if he was hungry. Of course he was ready to dive into my mom's cooking. All of my friends love for my mom to cook. The food was set out buffet style.
I looked around waiting on Dre to walk through. Everyone was fixing their plate.
"Has anyone seen Dre?" I asked.
Sean told me he'd left over an hour ago. I ran upstairs to get my cellphone to call him. The phone rang until I heard his voicemail. I hung up and called again just to get the same results. Wondering where he would have gone, I walked downstairs back to the kitchen. Jaxon walked up to me.
"Are you ok baby girl?"
"Yeah I'm good, just trying to figure out where Dre would have gone."
Then I thought maybe he went for a run. I walked to the garage and saw that he left in the SUV. Now I'm starting to worry. He left without telling me he was leaving. I've called him twice with no answer. Taking my phone from my back pocket, I called him again and heard his voicemail again. I walk back into the kitchen with worry written on my face.
Everyone was in the dining room eating but Jaxon. He was waiting on me. I walked over to him.
"Don't worry Tee. Maybe he left his phone in the car while running errands."
I wanted to believe that. I prayed nothing had happened. Jaxon prepared my plate and set it beside him. He pulled out my chair and I sat down still worrying about Dre.
"Eat Tahleea. You have a lot going on today."
Jaxon was still taking care of me as he has in the past. I was hungry so I ate everything he had put on my plate. I got up from the table to call Dre again. As I was walking up the stairs, that's when I heard the garage door open. I stood at the bottom of the stairs waiting for him.
He entered the kitchen and spoke to everyone. As he walked through the living room to go downstairs, he saw me standing on the stairs.
"Tee baby. I didn't see you there. Are you ok?"
"Where were you?"
"I had a few errands to run before our practice."
"I called you twice but got your voicemail."
"Oh I left my phone in the car. I'm sorry."
"So you didn't think to call me back when you got back in the car?"
"I figured since I was on my way back home, there was no need to call back."
I just looked at him. I got that gut feeling again, it wasn't errands he had to run, but rather someone he had to see. Not saying a word to him, I went upstairs to my room. He knew by the look on my face that I was having a battle with what I was feeling. As he was walking into our room, I was removing the clothes I had on so I could change into my workout clothes.
"Tee what's wrong. You act like you don't believe me."
That's just it. I thought I'd gotten over feeling like Dre would step out on me, but today he leaves without telling me, doesn't answer his phone and then doesn't feel the need to call me back. It just reminds me of his actions when he was trying to hold on to me while messing around with Macy.
"Ok Dre. I just have this gut feeling that your errands were really a visit to see Macy and if it's so, let me know now. First you leave without saying anything. Second I call you and I get your voicemail. Third you don't think to call me back. You haven't done this to me since you were messing around with Macy. So if you are going around her again, let me know NOW!"
I tried to stay calm but the more I let my mind go back to how things were before, I became upset and angry. Dre walked up to me and held me tight. I tried pushing him away but he held me tighter.
"Baby I understand why those feelings would creep back up, but I promise you that Macy or any other woman will be an issue. You are the one for me and I'm going to make you my wife in less than twenty four hours. I love you so much. I'm sorry that I didn't call back. I just figured since I was on my way home, there was no need to call you. I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
I somewhat relaxed and told myself that I was overreacting. Dre picked me up so that we were face to face.
"I'm sorry that I did something to trigger those feelings. It won't happen again."
He placed me back on my feet and kissed me soft and long. The kiss melted away some of my anxiety and the excitement of marrying Dre returned. I had no doubt that we were ready.
