Football preseason has started and Dre is having a meltdown because of the time he'll be away from our little man. He has even started talking about retiring so he'll have more time with AJ. I knew he really wants to continue playing, so I stepped down from coaching volleyball so AJ and I could attend all the home games.
My mom decided to work part time, so she keeps AJ Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I have a mini nursery set up in my office because I take him to work with me Tuesday and Thursday. It was a blessing that my mom was able to change her status to part time and it happened just in time.
AJ is now five months old. He's such a happy baby; already sitting up on his own, crawling, reaching for what he wants and he has me and Dre wrapped around his finger. Today we are ready to go to a home game. AJ and I have on our jerseys with Dre's number. I've got his bag packed with all the things he needs or I think he may need and a pair of baby sound block headphones. As we're on our way to the game, Dre calls me to get my location. I could tell he was excited about his son being at the game even though AJ won't know anything that's going on.
Because Dre doesn't want AJ around the big crowd, I agreed to sit in the sky box with the other players wives. I'd finally arrived at the stadium and parked. I put AJ in his stroller and grabbed his diaper bag and made our way to the sky box. As soon as I walked in, there sat Macy in the front row. She didn't notice that I'd walked in, so I settled myself on the end of the third row. Since AJ was still asleep, I left him in his stroller.
We still had an hour till kick off so I busied myself by texting Darah and LaShae. I told them that Macy was in the sky box with me. I'm not sure if she's dating one of the players or a friend to one of the player's wife. Darah told me not to focus on Macy's presence and enjoy watching my husband play. That's what I'm going to do. Since the game was about to get started, everyone started making their way to sit down. I put the headphones over AJ's ears in case people got too loud.
Just as the game was about to start, one of the young ladies spotted me. When she yelled my name, everybody turned to look.
"Oh my god. I can't believe you're here. How are you? Oh and you have the baby with you!"
As she left her seat to come look at AJ, Macy turned to look at me with the sight of surprise written on her face. All the ladies were now distracted from the game and looking at AJ and saying how cute he is. Macy never moved. My bitch face dared her to come near my baby.
"I know Andre is a proud daddy." One of the ladies said.
"Yes he is." I responded.
The ladies finally took their seat and we began cheering on our team. Since this was a preseason game, most of the starters were on the sideline. This is an opportunity for the guys that were trying to make the team to play. This means Dre wouldn't be tired and would be able to spend time with his jr after the game.
After the game was over, Macy hurriedly left the sky box. I put the headphones in the diaper bag and put it over my shoulder. Before I left the room, the young lady that was talking to me earlier pulled me to the side. She said that Macy started coming back to the games last year attempting to talk to Andre. She told me that she comes as a guest of one of the other player's girlfriends and she doesn't trust her.
I'm not sure what made her volunteer this information to me, but I didn't take it lightly. I'll be sure to keep my eyes open. I thanked her for the information and left the sky box. My thoughts took over as I rode the elevator. Last year, I rarely got a chance to attend any of the games because I was coaching volleyball and pregnant. This gave Macy the chance she wanted to try and get back to Dre. Then the question came to my mind, were there times that Dre met up with Macy after a game? I started getting angry at my thoughts.
As soon as the elevator door opened, there was a crowd trying to get to the field. The noise spooked AJ and he started crying. I got him out of his stroller to comfort him. I bounced him in one arm as I pushed the stroller with my free hand.
Finally making my way to the field, I looked for Dre. I know he would want to show off little man to some of his friends. As I kept walking, I spotted him talking to some of his teammates and there was Macy standing beside him. I moved up just enough for him to see me once he looked in my direction.
Standing in place bouncing baby boy to keep him quiet, I refused to let anger take over just yet. I needed to remain calm. I'm not sure what they were talking about, but everybody started laughing and Macy put her hand on Dre's shoulder. Right in the middle of his laughter, he looked up and saw me. I could see that "oh shit" expression on his face.
Still not moving, I just stared at him and Macy. He started running towards me as the rest of the gang was trying to figure out what happened. When he approached me, he kissed me on the cheek and took AJ from my arms. He grabbed my hand and started to walk back towards the other players. I stopped walking. He turned and looked at me.
"Dre you know I'm not going over there."
"Babe please. I want my boys to see our jr."
"I'm ok with your boys seeing jr., but not your friend with benefits. If she touches my baby, I'm going to fight you and her."
He knew I was serious, so he sat AJ back in my arms and grabbed the stroller. You become somewhat of a banty rooster once you become a mother.
The guys told Dre he has a future football player and congratulated us on our addition to the family. Macy continued standing there looking crazy. I refused to allow her presence put me in a bad mood. At this point if Andre is creeping around, everything he has is gone. I'm a boss and I have great connections all around me.
The guys started talking about the game. I didn't feel the need to stick around, so I told Dre I was ready to leave, we needed to get AJ settled for bed. I congratulated the guys on the win and Dre and I walked off the field.
"Dre, is there a reason she's hanging around again?"
"Why do you ask that Tee? She has just as much right to come to a game as anyone else as long as she purchases a ticket."
I didn't say another word. When I got to my car, I removed AJ from his stroller and buckled him into his car seat, Dre put the stroller in the trunk, and I got in the car ready to leave. I had nothing else to say. Yes I know she can buy tickets and attend any game she pleases, but why does she always feel the need to be under Dre and obviously he's all good with it. I left the garage not even waiting on him. For his sake, I hope he knows I'm not playing games, especially since I'm a mother.
After arriving home, I got my little man out of the car along with his diaper bag. I immediately got him ready for a bath. Dre had arrived and joined me in the bathroom watching me. Neither one of us said a word to one another. When I was finished cleaning AJ, I fed him and Dre burped and put him in bed.
Not staying in the nursery, I walked to my bathroom, did my nightly duties of showering, doing my facial and brushing my teeth. When I walked into the room, Dre was sitting on the bed waiting on me. Normally I would run a tub full of hot water and add some epsom salt to help him relax, but it's not happening tonight. He looked at me as though I'd forgotten something, but he knew not to push it with me.
I made sure the baby monitor was on and got in the bed. Dre has always taken up for Macy's presence by saying things to make me feel like I'm overreacting, so from now on, I'll keep my mouth shut. Whether he knows it or not, he's just planted a bomb and it's now ticking.

And just like that, Macy is back!!
