"Anna, wake up!" Harry shakes me firmly, causing me to sit up instantly, breathing heavily.
"What time is it?"
"3 in the morning."
I look over at Harry as he turns my lamp on. His bed head is all over the place, and he looks so cute. He almost makes me forget about the nightmare that has repeated itself from a few nights ago.
"What happened?" Harry asks. His wide eyes show his concern.
I shake my head. "You tell me."
"You just started screaming and......"
"ANNA!"
Once I hear Robert's voice, I look over at Harry in panic.
"Get under the bed!"
He quickly jumps up, moving himself under the bed right as Robert bangs on the door. I am quick to open it and Robert barges in with a baseball bat.
"What's going on? Why were you screaming? Are you okay?"
"I'm fine. It was just a bad dream."
Robert instantly calms down, lowering the bat. "Just a dream?"
"Well, more like a nightmare."
"Do you wanna talk about it or something?"
"It was about dad."
Robert stares at me in disbelief. "Anna...."
"I'm okay. I promise."
"You sure?"
"Positive." I nod.
He nods slightly. "Well okay. I'll let you uh.....get back to sleep. Do you need anything?"
"No, I'm okay."
"Okay." He nods, looking around one last time before heading out, shutting the door behind him.
Once he seems to be downstairs, I lean against the door, sinking to the ground. My tears flow out of my eyes. Harry bolted out from under the bed, coming to his knees beside me.
"Babe, it's okay. It was just a dream."
I continue to cry into my knees. After a few seconds, I bring my head back to lean against the door. "But it just seemed so real. Then every memory I've been trying to escape for the past two years has just come back."
He gathers me up in his arms, allowing me the silence needed to cry.
"I love you, baby." He whispers quietly as I sob into his chest. "No matter what, I will always love you."
I think I fall asleep on the ground, but I wake up in my bed. Harry is nowhere to be found.
"Harry?"
Moments later, he steps into the room....shirtless.
He smiles when he sees me. "You're awake." He sits down on the edge of the bed as I slowly lean up. "Your brother just left."
"And Courtney?"
"She left too."
"I thought you had left."
"Now why on Earth would I do that?" He smirks.
"Harry, we've got school."
"We'll skip it. I've already had a chat with your brother."
"What? He knows you were here?"
"Well no. I woke up and went get my car down the street. I figured you'd want the day off so I let you sleep. I just knocked on the door and told him I'd pick you up. He said that you were staying home today so I just waited down the street until I saw that him and Courtney both left."
"Why would I need the day off?"
He shrugs. "Your dream maybe?"
I shake my head. "A whole day of school off for one bad dream? That sounds ridiculous."
He shrugs, "Hey, don't deny quality time."
His shoulder nudges mine and I smile, "I guess you're right."
"Yeah, now, do you wanna go and do something fun or do you wanna just stay cooped up in your bed all day?"
"Staying in bed sounds pretty fun to me, but it doesn't sound like I have much of a choice."
"You don't." He smirks before basically pulling me out the bed.
I get dressed quickly and follow Harry outside to his car.
"Can I drive?"
"My car? Hell no."
I pour momentarily. "We could take mine." I shrug, holding out the keys to my brand new car.
He smirks. "Doesn't your brother get the slightest curiosity that you haven't been taking your new car to school?"
"You showed up at his doorstep ready to pick me up. I think that cleared things up for him."
He smirks. "Do you have a problem with the way I handle things, Anna?" He takes a step towards me.
I look a few inches down from his face to his chest. My eyes travel all the way down to the obvious bulge in his pants.
"It doesn't look like you're handling yourself very well now."
He takes another step forward, closing the space between us. "That's your job, baby." He takes a strand of my hair between his fingers. "Maybe we should go back inside so you can get your job done."
I bite my lip. "No thanks." I smirk, walking past him. I open my car and slide into the driver's seat. "You coming or what?"
He looks surprised by my rejection, but eventually slips in the seat beside me. "This should be fun."
His sarcastic tone is evident.
"Indeed it should be."
