Chapter 69

Harry and I sit on the couch in silence, waiting for his parents to get home.

I am curled up on one side, looking over at Harry whose hands are linked together while his chin rests on top, thinking.

"So.....are we gonna talk about this?" I ask.

"I hate when people think they can just make up shit about me like that!" He snaps.

"I know. But I don't believe a word of it, Harry. You have to know that. I know you'd never purposely sleep with someone to hurt me." I stare at him as he refuses to look at me. "But......you were drunk when you called me and......"

"I wasn't that drunk! Don't even think that!"

I remain quiet. "I know."

Then nothing but silence.

About 15 minutes later, someone knocks on the door.

"It's probably them." He murmurs to me before rising and heading away from me.

He opens the door to reveal.....

"What are you doing here?" I stand eye to eye with my very own brother.

Robert moves around Harry, grasping my arm. "Let's go!"

"What? No!"

"Anna, you have no idea what he's done!"

"I don't care what he's done! I'm in love with him!"

"He's blinding you!" He continues to pull me towards the door.

"What's this all about? I thought you were becoming more understanding!"

"Yeah, I understand that the person your little friend Luke described earlier isn't the person I want you dating!"

I yank my arm out of Robert's grasp. "Luke's trying to break us up! He's trying to make you believe all this shit about him, but it's not true!"

He turns to Harry. "I know what you did! Don't you dare ever lay a hand on my sister again!" Before I know it, his hand flies up, striking Harry in the face.

I'm too shocked. My jaw is dropped to the floor as I am left dumbfounded.

Harry closes his eyes, trying to remain calm, moving closer to me.

"Robert, I don't know what you're talking about! He hasn't done anything. Luke lies! That's all he does!"

"You think he would lie about this just to break you two up? This goes way further than lying!" He sidesteps the door. "Let's go. I don't want you two seeing each other!"

"No! You cannot break us apart! Not after everything!"

"This guy's dangerous, Anna! In ways you don't even know!"

I can't believe Luke did this. I can't believe he just went to Robert, thinking that it would make a difference.

"I'm not going with you, Robert!"

"Anna, you get out this damn door right now!"

"NO!" I say, taking a deep breath before finally making a decision. "I'm sick of being controlled by you! I'm not a child and I can make my own choices!"

"As long as you live under my roof......."

"That's the point, Robert!" I leave him in confusion.

"I'm moving out!"

My own words surprise me. Moments pass and he still stands there, staring at me like I'm an idiot.

"And where exactly do you think you'll go?"
