"Hindi ka talaga mapagkakatiwalaan, ano?"

"I'm really sorry, Will. Alam mo naman 'tong bunso ko. Iyak nang iyak kagabi kaya napuyat na naman ako."

I rolled my eyes and looked at the watch. It was almost time for class. "So, ano? Hindi ka na talaga papasok? Ikaw 'tong nagkumbinsi sa'kin na mag-enroll tapos ikaw 'tong wala ngayon?"

"Papasok ako pero 'di ngayon. Umalis din babysitter namin. Nag-last minute kanina kaya walang magbabantay sa magkapatid. And you know Bredant's away."

Iritado akong bumuntong-hininga. "Fine. Basta sa susunod, hindi na talaga kita hihintayin. Bruha ka! You made me wait for you for an hour!"

Nayeli laughed. "Oo na, oo na. I-scan mo notes mo mamaya tapos i-send mo sa'kin. 'Tsaka para makabawi naman kasi nakakahiya sa'yo, dito ka na mag-lunch."

"'Buti naman. Mahiya ka talaga sa'kin."

Nagtagal pa nang kaunti ang pag-uusap namin bago ko ibinaba ang tawag. I dramatically wiped the imaginary sweat on my forehead. That bitch really had me waiting for almost an hour!

Nayeli and I decided to further our knowledge in law by enrolling for master's. Actually, ayoko naman talaga sana. I might not be as busy as before but I had my hands full. This was impractical, too, considering my plans in the coming years. Pero pinilit niya akong mag-enroll din. Para raw may kasama siya. Naisip ko rin na dahil hindi ko naman pina-practice ang profession ko, I wasn't so updated with the changes so this might help me. Hindi ko rin naman isinasara ang katotohanang baka bumalik din ako rito sa hinaharap. This new degree might help me if that day would come.

"Oh, sorry," I mumbled and gave way when I felt someone's presence behind me.

The tall man cleared his throat and proceeded past me. Napakunot-noo ako.

He felt familiar.

Pagkarating ko sa classroom, pansamantalang nanahimik ang mga kapwa ko abogado sa pagkukuwentuhan. I courtly nodded at them and found myself a seat.

This was awkward.

"Kilala niyo ba professor natin sa subject na 'to?" I heard the girl with blonde, dry hair ask her friends while I retouched.

Most of them looked younger. I was sure some of them were new to the profession.

Good for them.

"I'm not really sure. Pero last year daw, si Juge Cabrera ang nag-handle ng subject na 'to. Baka siya rin ngayon."

Ipinagpatuloy ko ang pagsuklay sa buhok at palihim na nakinig sa usapan nila. Whenever I would see someone looking my way, I'd smile. Some would smile back while most would look away.

If felt weird being surrounded by lawyers. Maybe because I was a celebrity and it had been a while since I was in one place with these professionals. And, yeah, they might be reminded of my case almost ten years ago or they found it interesting that I was here.

Now I was really regretting that I enrolled.

Time had passed and I could say my wounds had healed. I conquered once again the kingdom I built. Everything just returned to their place and I couldn't ask for more.
