With all that was left of me, I grabbed a handful of soil and threw it on her face. It caught her off-guard. I took that opportunity to make an offense. I punched her face and blood gushed from her mouth. Hindi pa ako nakuntento. I pushed her hard on the ground, sat on her stomach, and strangled her.
“Do you think your sad story will justify what you did to me, huh?” angil ko sa at mas hinigpitan ang pagkakasakal sa kanya. Her mouth was wide open and her tongue hung on her lips as she tried to free herself from my wrath. “You put me in a place I never deserved, you ungrateful bitch!”
I couldn’t see anything but blood.
I’d never forgive her!
She chuckled as she gasped for air and looked at me like I was some insect. “So this is you when you’re really angry . . .”
Her eyes almost rolled in the back of her head. “You never knew me, then.”
I was about to punch her again when she stealthily put her left hand around my neck. As she gritted her teeth, I was trying hard to breathe.
Damn it!
“I can’t . . . die . . . alone . . .” hirap na hirap niyang sabi at mas hinigpitan ang pagsakal sa akin.
My vision became hazy and my mind was clouded. I couldn’t let go of her!
But . . . shit!
I didn’t know if she pushed me or I was momentarily out of my mind when I fell on the ground. I felt numb. Everything was slo-mo. All I could hear was the sound of my breaths.
“If you had pleaded guilty, if you stayed where you were,” she kicked me in the abdomen and blood was forced out of my mouth, “wala sana tayo rito!”
I whimpered when her kicks didn’t stop. The numbness in me slowly faded and the pain in every contact was unbearable. I tried to crawl but she immediately noticed and pressed her block heel on my hand making me scream so loud the whole forest shook.
“That fucker loved you even in the last moments of his life . . .” umiiyak na sabi niya bago ako sinipa sa ulo dahilan para mapabaling sa kabila ang mukha ko. “Have you got any idea how painful it was to me?”
“Estupida,” I whispered and laughed softly. “’Pag pinatay mo ‘ko,” ibinaling ko ang tingin sa kanya at sarkastikong ngumiti, “pupunta tayo ng impyernong ako pa rin ang mahal niya.”
Of course, it hit a nerve. Gigil na gigil niyang sinubukan akong tadyakan. I already recognized the pattern so I rolled away from her. But she was quick with her reflexes, too. We both learned martial arts, after all.
Mabilis siyang sumugod sa akin. I was able to dodge her punches and landed some on her face. It must have infuriated her that she doubled her strength and was able to make a jump spin kick. I felt my skull crack before I fell to the ground.
Fuck. I should have taken those lessons seriously!
She grabbed my collar and I saw once again the blazing anger in her orbs. “Let’s see where that arrogance of yours will take—”
“You talk too much.” At mahina akong tumawa.
Sunod-sunod. Muhing-muhi. And whenever she would stop, I would insult her with a laugh.
