Kein Operationsplan reicht mit einiger Sicherheit über das erste Zusammentreffen mit der feindlichen Hauptmacht hinaus. -Helmuth von Moltke

Whitmore Boarding House

Predawn
Hayley stumbled into the wooded path quickly and gathered her clothes. Turning was exhilarating after she survived the pain of every one of her bones cracking. She dressed in the darkness among the trees and made it back to the boarding house before the servants came in for their morning chores.
Emily was waiting for her upstairs.
"Miss Marshall, long night?" Emily purred. She was fully dressed in a charming pink gown. The pink ribbon in her head belied the keen look of suspicion in her eye.
"Emily, go back to bed. This is none of your concern!" Hayley hissed. She did not want Mrs. Whitmore waking and finding out that she had been out all night. How would she explain?
"Oh, but Miss Marshall, I think it is," Emily said easily and with a confidence that was beyond her years.
"Do you want me to tell Mrs. Whitmore that you need your bottom warmed up with her little switch like Kathy got? Young lady, you best watch who you are questioning," Hayley said with her eyes glowing yellow a moment.
Emily guffawed, "I have dealt with your....kind before, ma'am. I am not afraid of you. And if anyone gets a piece of that switch first, it will be you."
Hayley grabbed Emily's arm and pushed her against the wall, "What do you want of me? Speak, stop with these games."
"I will let you know in good time. Just know that I know," Emily said, as she chanted. Hayley felt a deep pain in her skull and fell to her knees in agony.
"A witch! One they forgot to burn," Hayley spat in rage. If only this pretty witch challenged her a few hours before, things would be different. Hayley felt a white hot rage she had to fight to quell.
"Oh, they actually hanged my kin in Salem. Not unlike how the abominations hunted you beasts almost to extinction. There is one under this roof. She would have us all burned if it suited her that day," Emily hissed in Hayley's ear as she roughly pulled her up.
"You are no 15 year old, miss! And Mrs. Whitmore is an....abomination? You speak nonsense," Hayley chided.
"Not her," Emily said softly.
Hayley blinked, "But that is impossible. Kathy is just a....girl."
"Tear off that bracelet she wears in the sun and she will burn like a torch. The undead surround this town, as they were created here. What you do not know would fill the oceans. You have come to a dangerous place, for our kind," Emily said as she turned and walked away.
Hayley's superior hearing heard Mrs. Whitmore stir and she hurried to her room. The excitement of turning was wearing off and Hayley needed sleep, yet she was expected to rise soon. She looked forward to the day she would no longer have to hide in plain sight. Yet, she needed to know more.
Emily and Katherine's Room
Katherine was just getting up to dress when Emily came back in. She wore her corset and split drawers with stockings.
