I had to act fast. I had to be quick. My legs quickly moved to Alex where she layed, picking her up.

"Shit." Emica whispered. "We have to go. Now!"

She opened the door, allowing us to sprint towards the truck, jumping in. Dai's hand gripped his seatbelt as he saw the state that Alex was in.

"Holy shit!" He widened his eyes, staring at her.

The mansion roared, causing us to all turn our heads. Flames burst from the windows.

"Go!" I yelled to the driver. "Step on it."

I gently laid Alex down on one of the seats. I ripped part of the tail of her dress.

"Does anyone have a pen?" I asked, looking around.

"A pen?" Dai squint.

"A pen!" I yelled.

"Here! Here!" Emica handed me a light blue pen.

I wrapped the cloth that I tore off of Alex's dress around her waist where the wound was. I twisted the pen around the cloth tightly, applying pressure towards the wound. I looked at her. She was staring at the ceiling.

"Talk to me. Talk to me." I told her.

She smiled. "I killed him, Kenji. I did it."

Her eyes blinked close for a split second.

"I know." I raised my voice, attempting to keep her awake. "Yeah. Yeah I saw."

"He killed my mom." She whispered. "She was down there with us. He killed her in front of my eyes."

"I'm so sorry." I said, brushing her hair back.

She nodded. "It's okay. It'll be okay. I'll get through it." Her voice was gentle. Calm. Quiet. "I don't feel any better, but I did what I had to do."

I nodded "You did great, baby. You did great."

She sighed. "I did. I love you."

"I love you, Alex."

The usual hour drive was cut in half by thirty minutes. I talked to Alex for the entire ride. We gave everybody at the safe house a heads up on what was happening. I'm sure Zara was prepared to kill us all. She was a medical student. We couldn't go to the hospital. None in the area, so we had to have the bullet removed here. Zara was sure she could do it. This was our only option. We hopped out of the car. I carried Alex towards the door. Zara came running towards the foyer.

"Come on. Come to the kitchen!" She yelled.

We followed her. I gently laid Alex on the cold gray marble counter. She groaned. Zara washed her hands and got right to work. There was a tray on the counter. Alcohol, a needle and thread, tweezers, cotton balls, and wound wrapping tape. Zara got a belt and put it in Alex's mouth to bite on.

"I need you to bite on this. This is going to hurt like hell, okay? Biting on it will help." Zara told her.

Alex nodded, sweat dripped down her forehead. She laid back as Zara got the tweezers and went inside the wound, searching for the bullet. A muffled scream came out of Alex's mouth.
