Going back

About an hour passed. Dinner was fine, but my thoughts were taken away from the group after Akio revealed that Kenji and were required, yes, required to get married in less than six months. I wasn't upset because I had to get married to Kenji. I'd been in love with him since I was seventeen. It was just the fact that he had failed to tell me. A heads up would've been nice.

We finished dinner and headed out of the mansion. I didn't say anything in the car. Amaya slept. Kenji was quiet too. I guess he sensed that I wasn't in the mood to speak to him. When we got to my building, the car was parked. I quickly got out of the car and got Amaya.

"I got it." Kenji shooed me away and took her out of her carseat.

I rolled my eyes and went to get the elevator. It came after a few seconds. We got on. Tension spread like wildfire. I exited the elevator as the doors slid open, reaching our level. I walked down the hallway and to my door. I quickly walked in. Kenji came in behind me. I took my shoes off and took the car seat away from Kenji. I took Amaya out of her car seat and walked to her room. I gently took her clothes off of her sleeping body and put her some pajamas on. I gently laid her in her crib.

Shower tomorrow.

I exited her room, gently closing the door. Kenji stood a couple feet away from me, staring at me. I rolled my eyes and walked into the kitchen.

"Let's talk." Kenji's voice sounded very relaxed.

"Look at you, still demanding shit." I took a glass of vodka out of the cabinet and got a glass.

"I should've told you."

I poured some of the drink into the cup and threw it back.

"Yeah." I set the cup down. "You should have, but you didn't."

"I didn't know that you'd be this upset just because you have to marry me."

"I'm not upset." I walked past him. "I'm annoyed that you failed to mention that we have to get married."

"I just met Amaya. I didn't want to bring any drama into the situation." He explained.

"There's no drama, Kenji." I sighed. "This is something serious. A marriage. A family. Of course, I'd love to marry you, but you acted as if the whole thing was a secret. What did this fuck up something that you already had going on? Is that why you failed to tell me?"

"What are you talking about? Something going on? What?"

"Did you have some type of relationship or something before you found out about Amaya? Is that why-"

"If I had something going on already, why the fuck would I be here with you? Sure, I'd be here for Amaya, but why would I cheat on any potential woman to mess around with you? Am I not better than that?"

"Of course you are, but there has to be some reason as to why you didn't tell me."

"I expected you to be mad when I came back." He admitted. "When you introduced me to Amaya- when I first met Amaya, I expected you to hate me. I expected you to push me away, but you treated me better than I should've been treated. I didn't want to bring it up because I was afraid that you would react in a bad way. I just wanted to enjoy the peace before the storm hit."
