"I'm sorry, Xan." I sighed. "I'll be there next week."

"That's what you said last week." She sighed, putting her hair in a ponytail. "...And the week before that...And the week before that...And the list goes on."

"I know, but it's been tight here. I haven't been able to go to New York." I frowned. "Did you get the flowers that I sent over there?"

"Yes." she slicked her edges. "Twenty bouquets? Was that really necessary?"

"It was." I smiled. "Do you like them?"

"I always do.'' She put her jacket on. "You don't have to send me flowers every time you don't show."

"I know, but it's a way of me apologizing."

"Why apologize if it's going to continuously happen?"

"It's not intentional."

"I know." She sighed. "I have to go to class. I'll call you later."

"Okay. I love you."

"I love you too." She smiled, hanging up the facetime call.

"Why must you lie to her?" my mom asked, walking into my office. "Nothing's tight over here. Everything's perfectly fine. Why won't you go see her?"

I sighed, shrugging. My mom closed the office door.

"Kenji, I am your mother. Be honest with me. Why are you doing her like that?" She asked.

I cleared my throat. "Because, I can't see her right now."

"Well why not?"

"Because it's hard to leave." I leaned back. "I go there every week. And I have to leave her everytime. It get's hard, mom. それは難しいです. I can't keep going there, telling her that I love her and spending time with her just to leave her again. It's too much."

"Do you still love her?"

"Of course. I just don't know if I can keep up this long distant shit anymore."

My mom popped my mouth. "Language, Kenji."

"ごめんなさい、お母さん." I sighed. (Sorry、 mom.)

"Just be honest with her." She crossed her arms. "Honesty and communication is the key to a healthy relationship."

I nodded. "Yeah. I guess."

"Now go home and get some sleep. It's late." She smiled.

I grabbed my bag and headed out of the door. I moved out of Kenji's penthouse months prior and got my own apartment with Kenji's help. Kenji made sure it was luxurious even though I told him that I didn't need the best of the best. He dropped over twenty thousand on it a month. Although I was damn near set for life, I still worked. I found a bit of independence even though Kenji put a roof over my head.
