It was exciting being engaged and everyone else had really helped lift the excitement of it. Walking into work the following Monday, right when Aaron opened those doors and allowed me to walk in first I heard Derek say "Mr and soon to be Mrs Hotchner!", and he didn't say it quietly either, announcing it to the whole bullpen with energy. I couldn't help but smile, turning to look at Aaron who had a very soft smile upon his face as well.
I noticed the kiss of pink that dusted his cheeks and his eyes fell to the floor momentarily before he had regained his composure, lifting his shoulders and flattening down his tie. I saw right through it though and shot him a playful wink and he softly smiled, nudging me gently.
Everyone kinda got worked up about it, excitedly talking and it distracted us from work a bit. Random people from around he bullpen overheard and congratulated us and I couldn't lie when I said I liked the attention we were getting. I was glad everyone was so supportive of us. I expected the opposite somehow.
"Alright, alright we have a long while to gush over the proposal, back to work cmon." Aaron dismissed everyone and we all headed back to our respective desks and Aaron shot me a smile before heading into his office. It was really nice to bask in the excitement of being newly engaged. Despite seeing it yesterday, Penelope asked to see the ring once more when she came to the bullpen to visit everyone, jumping up and down excitedly as she admired it.
"It's so pretty, a pretty ring for a pretty girl!" She gushed, ranting about how gorgeous I'm gonna look on my wedding day and that we all needed to have a girls day to pick out a dress. I couldn't lie, I loved the attention. It made me feel really special and happy.
It was also a paperwork day today, which made me a bit happier as well. No heavy stress, I can just chill at my desk and write, and have small talk with my friends. I smiled softly as I got out a file to write through. I'm at a really good place in my life right now. During lunch I got Aaron and I food and headed up to his office, knocking before I entered, placing his on a bare spot on his desk. I liked having lunch with him when possible.
"So I was thinking, if we're gonna get married, I'd like to look into getting a house of our own." He says as he sat up straighter in his chair and I hummed through a bite of food. I really had never thought of us doing that.
"I mean, I wouldn't mind that but I'm happy wherever as long as I'm with you. We really don't have to move." I say and he looked in thought. "I know that but even though our house is.. ours. I bought it by myself, we don't have those exciting memories of being a couple and getting to buy our first house together. Though, if you're happy as we are, I don't want to force you into it." He says and I shrugged with a smile.
"Honey, whatever you wanna do, I'm fine with. I agree that it would be fun to have those exciting memories of moving into a new place and making it our own. But we've made your home our own as well." I say and he smiled gently, standing up to stand in front of me.
"We can discuss it at a later date, it's not something that we need to jump into right now. We're content right now." He says and I smiled at him with a nod, standing to pull him in for a gentle kiss, caressing his face softly as I did so, savoring the feeling of his lips upon mine. I love him so much.
"Everyone is definitely watching us." Aaron said as we pulled away and I chuckled while I nodded my head. Didn't take a profiler to figure that one out. We turned to look out his window and surely enough everyone was, and the team hurriedly looked away as if they weren't when we caught them. They are awfully obvious for being profilers.
"Okay now eat, take a break from your work please." I say, gesturing to the food I had placed on his desk when I entered his office. He smiled and nodded, sitting back down to join me properly for lunch. We talked a bit as we ate and once we finished up I had to get back to my own desk, pressing a firm kiss to his cheek before I headed out.
