The forensics team took their time inspecting my hospital room and examining the flowers before bagging and removing them. Considering this crazy person managed to sneak a bug into my hotel room, they wanted to make sure the same thing hadn't happened to my hospital room. Ted stayed close to my room when he wasn't checking in on Namjoon. When his shift ended, he grabbed a chair and joined the police officer standing guard outside my door.
Jungkook, Taehyung, Jin, and Hoseok came to visit me in pairs. Yoongi was noticeably absent. They all tried hard to cheer me up and gave their condolences on the loss of the baby. Jungkook sang a couple of songs for me, Jin shared some dad jokes, Hobi made up a silly dance, and Tae pretended he was a fashion model being interviewed about his clothing choices. It was difficult, but I tried hard not to laugh too much with my ribs being so sore.
It was getting late, and I feared Yoongi was avoiding me. When Yoongi finally visited on his own, our visit was intense.
"Hey, Addy," he said smiling as he walked through the door.
"Hi, Yoongi! I was afraid you weren't going to visit me."
He walked to my bedside and smiled down at me.
"How could you think that, Addy? Of course, I want to visit with you. Namjoon should be well enough to visit you tomorrow as well. I'm so happy you are doing better. We were all very worried."
Yoongi looked at me so lovingly, but I could see the pain in his eyes.
"I'm so sorry I hurt you, Yoongi. I never meant to. I really do care about you."
"I know you do, Addy. No person can control who they fall in love with. I will admit, I fell in love with you. I'm still in love with you, Addy. I'm not sure if I will ever stop loving you. I wish you felt the same way about me. But you don't. You fell in love with Jimin, and Jimin fell in love with you."
I saw tears start to well up in his eyes. He continued, "And I deserve to be with someone who loves me back in the same way. No matter how much I want you, I love you too much to make you settle for someone you don't love back in the same way."
"Yoongi," I tried to console him, reaching out and softly touching his face.
He closed his eyes momentarily at the touch of my hand, then took my hand, kissed the back of it, then placed his other hand on top. "I'll gladly be your friend up close and love you from afar. I'm hopeful that I will find the right person someday who will let me forget about you, Addy, but I never want to stop being your friend."
He wiped the tears from his eyes and continued, "I'm so sorry you and Jimin lost your baby. I would have loved to be Uncle Yoongi." He forced his cute, gummy smile, then grew serious again. "Jimin's right, you know. You need to leave. You need to cut off communication with all of us, especially Jimin. However, I think we can find a way to let you know we are all thinking of you. Have you decided where you are going to go yet?"
"No," I shook my head. "I'm hoping Hybe will grant me a temporary leave of absence. I really want to be with my family right now. I haven't seen my parents in months, and I had planned on visiting them during our tour stop in Denver. If I don't get a leave of absence, I'll probably return to South Korea and put in a request for a department transfer. At least that way I will get to be with Aidan. I just can't be alone right now."
Yoongi nodded and patted my hand. "I'll see what I can do to help you with that leave of absence. You'll be missed, Addy. So much." Tears started to stream down his face. "I promise to take care of Jimin for you. We all will do our best to help him through this."
He wiped his eyes again and then said one last goodbye. "Never forget that you are loved, Addy. There are seven Korean men who are keeping you in their hearts. I will do my best to leave signs for you while we are forced to be apart."
