Just when I was about to knee him in the groin, someone yanked him off of me and punched him in the face, knocking him to the ground.

It was Jimin.

"GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM HER!"

Dazed, Mr. Yun shook his head and brought a hand to his eye. He looked up at me and saw me shaking with tears streaming down my face.

"I-I'm so sorry Addy. I never meant to hurt you. I just thought . . ."

"Well, you thought wrong!" Jimin growled at him.

He pulled himself back up into a standing position and sighed.

"Addy . . . I'll leave you alone now. I'm so sorry."

He turned and walked away.

Jimin turned and looked at me. He was breathing heavily and his eyes were filled with rage. I was shaking. I crossed my arms across my chest and hugged my shoulders. He walked toward me, his face filled with concern.

"Are you okay?"

He gently took my hands and inspected my wrists. The shock of what had just happened had left me speechless.

"Addy?"

"Y-yes Jimin. Thank you."

"Are you going to be okay getting up to your apartment or would you like me to go with you?"

"Uhhhh . . ."

I hesitated. I was still outraged over the way Jimin had treated me on Monday, but I didn't feel safe to be alone after what had just happened. Wait. What was Jimin doing here?

"Jimin?"

"Yes?"

"What are you doing here?"

He looked down with guilt and then looked back up at me. "I wanted to make sure you made it home safe tonight. I just had a feeling about that guy."

I nodded. I was well aware that one of my many failings was that I had difficulty reading people--men in particular. More than once in college I had failed to see the signs that a male friend wanted to be more than just friends. It never had gone this far, though. My female friends were good about letting me know when they noticed if I was totally clueless. This gave me time to gently let the men down. Here, I had no female friends to have my back.

Jimin put his arms around me and hugged me. Despite the hurt he had caused me, I welcomed his comforting embrace.

"It's okay. You're safe now."

Jimin walked me up to my apartment door. With a shaking hand, I managed to unlock my door and I took a step in. He said goodnight and turned to leave. Quickly, I turned around and called to him.

"Jimin, please stay."

He turned and looked at me surprised. I couldn't believe what I had just asked him to do. It was on impulse. How could I want the very man who had treated me horribly to stay? Perhaps it was because I knew deep down that Jimin was a good person. Perhaps it was because despite his jealous idiocy, deep down inside me I knew he really did care about me. How long could I hold his foolish, immature jump to conclusions against him?

"Please, Jimin."

He hesitated, looking down at his shoes. I wondered what was running through his head.

"Okay," he uttered as he brought his eyes up to mine.

Jimin POV

Addy was shaking all the way up to her apartment. Providing her with some comfort was the least I could do. Once she was in her apartment, I knew it was my time to leave. Addy threw me for a loop when she asked me to stay. I wasn't sure if it was a good idea. She was still quite visibly upset by what had happened, though, so I agreed to stay for her sake.

She took off her coat, hung it up, and headed to her kitchen.

"I-I'm going to make some coffee. Do you want some coffee, Jimin?"

Without even waiting for an answer from me, she pulled out two mugs from an upper cabinet and set them on the counter. She turned to her coffeemaker and started to prepare the coffee when she suddenly stopped and broke down crying. I took off my coat and draped it over the back of a kitchen chair, then walked up behind her and put my arms around her. She held my arms to her, resting her head back onto my shoulder.

"Shhhh . . . it's okay. You're safe now." I held her as she cried. "Addy, I'm so sorry. Can you ever forgive me for the horrible things I said to you?"

"It's more than just that you said them, Jimin. It's that you actually believed them. You believed me to be a lying whore."

"I was a fucking idiot. I know that now. I let my jealousy get the better of me. Please forgive me, Addy."

She turned around and looked at me, tears rolling down her face. She then lifted herself up onto her toes, put her arms around me, and kissed me softly on the lips.
