Jimin POV
I was in heaven. Addy and I were together again. I was taking in her scent, her sound, her touch. I never wanted it to end, but her body felt too damn good not to let myself get lost in it. It felt so freeing to not have to hold myself back. Our loud vocalizations soared through the air, bouncing off our surroundings. It was so fucking hot!
Afterward, she fell asleep in my arms. Her trademark soft little snore was a welcome sound. I laid there, running my fingers up and down her silky back as I took in the sights and sounds around me. I studied the light filtering through the leaves above. I breathed in the scent of the sweet, soft grass underneath us. I watched as a butterfly flitted from wildflower to wildflower. When it flew off, it drew my gaze over to the old, worn-down barn, and I imagined it to be filled with history.
I suddenly remembered that we had stranded Namjoon. Not wanting to disturb her too soon, I carefully slid out from under Addy and began to get dressed. As soon as I was fully clothed again, I crouched down by Addy and woke her.
"Addy. Time to wake up."
Her eyes opened and she looked up at me sleepily. A smile swept onto her face. "I thought it was all a dream," she said.
"It isn't a dream, Addy. I'm here. Namjoon is, too."
She quickly popped up, her eyes large. "Oh, shit! I forgot about Namjoon! He must be wondering what happened to us!"
I looked at my cell phone to see how much time had passed since we had left him behind. It had been just over an hour. As Addy got dressed, I quickly called him to let him know we were on our way back.
The moment he answered, I blurted out, "Namjoon! I'm so sorry. We lost track of time. We're on our way back now."
"That's okay. After taking a walk around the neighborhood for a while, her dad noticed me and invited me into their house. He said he recognized me from the TV this morning."
"Wait. What?"
"Yeah, her dad and I are sitting on the back porch drinking beer."
I turned to Addy and told her, "Namjoon says he's sitting on your parents' back porch drinking beer with your dad."
"Shit!" she uttered. "We've got to go!"
Addy got dressed in a hurry, and as we drove back, she dusted the grass off her dress and redid her braid. She then took in some deep breaths to calm herself down.
"Gee, Addy, shouldn't I be the one freaking out right about now? Are you afraid of what they will think of me?"
"Jimin, I never told them about you--about us. What if Namjoon lets it slip?"
"Why didn't you tell them about me? Are you embarrassed?"
"Well, yes and no. I saw no need to stress them out about the fact that it was our relationship that brought the crazy fan out. They think I was poisoned by accident because I was a member of BTS' staff and one of you was the actual target. They don't know about the death threat. I wasn't sure when I would see you again, and they are both getting on in years. I didn't want them worrying about my safety. Plus . . ."
"I'm a lot younger?" I asked, knowing very well that the difference in our ages was going to be an issue. "It's okay, Addy. I understand. I haven't told my parents about you, either. I plan to as soon as we truly can be together, though."
Addy nodded and then talked frantically, "Don't get me wrong. You do not embarrass me, Jimin. Oh god. I was ready to introduce you and Namjoon together as my friends, but introduce you as my lover, Jimin? My parents are going to wonder what you and I were doing alone while Namjoon was visiting with them. Who am I kidding? They're old, not stupid."
I took her hand and squeezed it. "It's okay, Addy. Everything's going to be okay. I'll easily win them over with my charms. You see, I have this thing called the 'Jimin Effect' and it wins everyone over, men and women alike."
She burst out in nervous laughter. "Now don't you dare go and steal my mom's heart, Jimin!" she smiled.
"Don't worry. I don't plan to. It's your dad's heart I want."
She burst out laughing again, lightly slapping me on the arm. "You devil!" I pulled up to her parents' house and I quickly checked myself in the rearview mirror. "You look great, Jimin. It's me I'm worried about." We got out of the car and she did a quick 360 so I could brush off any remaining grass from her sundress. I then followed her as we walked up the front walkway. The house was large, but not the largest in the neighborhood. Based on appearances, Addy's parents had some money. I don't know why, but the thought intimidated me. I followed her in through their front door to find the two-story house had high vaulted ceilings. It was a beautiful home.
"Mom?" she called, turning a corner and walking into another room. As I followed, I saw she was walking toward the kitchen. There, standing by the sink was a short woman with short, gray hair and glasses. Her body was a slightly plumper version of Addy's. I smiled at the thought that Addy's body would probably look like that 30 years from now.
"Oh, hi! We wondered when you were going to get back from your walk. One of your BTS friends is here." She then peered around Addy's shoulder and saw me. "Oh, I see your friend isn't alone. Are they all here?"
"No, Mom. Only Namjoon and Jimin were able to make it up here for a visit. Mom, this is Park Jimin."
"The one with the sweet voice!" she smiled. She walked around the counter and reached her hand out to greet me. "Nice to meet you. I'm Evelyn." I shook her hand and bowed.
"Oh, well that's too bad. Your dad has been eager to fire up the grill to make a large batch of his famous wings. He misses having company."
I heard a man's voice laughing on the back porch. Addy's mom turned her eyes toward the porch, sighed, and rolled her eyes.
"Your dad took it upon himself to offer your friend Namjoon a beer. I told him it was a little early in the day for it. I hope Namjoon didn't feel forced to accept it."
"Actually, Namjoon and I really like beer," I commented.
"Oh, well then you've come to the right place--and I don't just mean our house," she chuckled.
Addy turned to me and explained, "Colorado is known for its beer. We have a lot of breweries in the area. If you all find the time, you should try to take one of the local brewery tours."
"Brewery tour?!" I lit up. Addy laughed lightly, then walked to the refrigerator, pulled out a bottle of beer, and handed it to me. "Here you go, Jimin. It's from one of our several microbreweries. Give it a try."
"Thank you, Addy." She handed me a bottle opener, I opened it, and I took a big gulp. It was good--really good. "I like it!" I approved. I tipped the bottle and chugged the entirety of it. I was really starting to like Colorado, and not just because it was where Addy lived.
When I finished, I wiped my mouth and looked up. Addy's mom's mouth was hanging open wide and she was staring at me. "What? Is something wrong?" I asked Addy in Korean.
She responded in Korean, "It's okay, Jimin. It's just that typically we don't chug beer in Colorado unless we're at a frat party. My mom's not used to seeing that." She then turned to her mom and tried to explain. "They drink a lot of beer in South Korea. Jimin has a high tolerance because he's very active. He has a very high metabolism."
"Oh, okay," her mom said, apprehensively. "Would you like another beer, Jimin?" she asked politely.
Afraid of how I would look based on her mom's reaction to my drinking the beer so quickly, I opted not to have a second. "No, thank you. I would like some water, please."
"I'll get both of us some water, Jimin." Addy interjected, "and then I can introduce you to my dad."
As Addy got each of us a glass of water, her mom looked at me and smiled. "Your English is very good, Jimin," she complimented.
"Addy is a very good teacher," I explained.
"I can see that," she replied, turning and looking at Addy with pride.
Addy handed me a glass of water and then opened the screen door to the back porch. I took a deep breath and followed her out.
