Under Suspicion

Ted POV

After finding Addy's nurse to let her know she was awake and needed pain meds, I went to the waiting room to give the guys the good news. To my surprise, the cops were back, and the expressions on the young men's faces concerned me.

"What's going on?" I asked, catching the attention of everyone in the room. One of the cops approached me and began to update me.

"Mr. Johnson, we did a thorough search of your sister's hotel room. It looks like your suspicions were right. Your sister was the target. We found a bug."

"A bug?!"

"Yes, on the underside of the table she ate her breakfast at. We checked all of the rooms the BTS members are staying in and hers was the only one with a bug."

"Can you tell how long it has been there?"

"No, but we reviewed security footage at the hotel from the moment your sister checked in. Everything looks fairly routine except for one event. We're going to have to speak to Mr. Park Jimin. Do you happen to know where he is?"

"He's visiting with Addy right now. I turned to the BTS members and announced the good news. She's awake, guys! Addy woke up!"

The young men raised their heads and smiled. They came together and formed a group hug at the good news. Then it hit me. The cops suspected Jimin.

"Look, Jimin can't possibly have anything to do with this," I said insistently.

"Really? Why is that?"

The hum of the others talking stopped and the room grew silent. All eyes were on us.

"Wait. You think Jimin did this?!" the one named Taehyung interrupted. "That's crazy!"

"Sir, can we please take this somewhere a little more private?" the detective asked in a low voice.

He led me to another room where we could close the door and talk in private.

"So, why don't you think Mr. Park Jimin had anything to do with this? From what I understand, you barely know the guy."

"Look, they don't want this to get out, but Addy and Jimin are a couple. If you saw any footage of him visiting her room on his own, that's probably why. I've seen the way he is with her. He adores her. He was devastated that she lost their baby."

"Baby?"

"Shit." I let out a little too much info.

"I probably shouldn't be telling you this, but yes. The doctors say Addy had a miscarriage while they were treating her. Her husband made a nasty remark about the baby being a bastard and Jimin flipped out. Clearly, he wanted the baby, if he even knew about it."

"I see," the detective said in a doubting tone.

"It had to be somebody else. Perhaps a hotel employee?"

"We're working that angle as well. We've managed to interview everybody except for the young woman who delivered her room service. She works part-time and her shift ended shortly before we arrived on the scene."

"Well, it's got to be either hotel staff or someone outside of the group. There is no way Jimin would hurt Addy."

"There you are again with the certainty. You know, it's usually the husband or boyfriend. We checked into Daniel, and other than his visit yesterday with all of the BTS members there, he never set foot into her room again."

"I followed Jimin when he went to visit Addy. I suspected he was her lover and the father of her baby based on his reaction to Daniel's comment. I secretly watched him interact with her. That man . . . he was in tears. He talked to her about their future, he kissed her, he held her hand, he sang to her, and he even attempted to braid her hair for her. If that's not devotion, I don't know what is. Park Jimin didn't do this!"
