chapter 7

Abby Pov

I'm driving to the coffee shop to meet Josh and    I'm so freaking excited. I get an excuse to hang out with my crush. haha. Anyways I only live like 5 minutes away so I was there before him. While I was waiting for him I went up to order my coffee.

"hello welcome to Rachels Coffee Shop how can I help you today?" the cashier who looks around my age with black curly hair and a very structured face said.

"hi can I just get a grande cold brew"

"yea sure thing. that'll be $5.65"

I hand him the cash and he gives me my receipt and change.

"can I get a name to put on the cup?" he asked me

"oh yea for sure. my names Abigail"

"that's a pretty name" he smiles at me

I go sit at a table and wait for Josh to walk through the doors. He got there a few minutes after and my drink still isn't ready but Josh walks over with his smile that melts my heart.

"hey Abigail"

"hey Joshua"

He gets up and orders his drink.

"cold brew for Abigail!"

I walk up to get my drink and say a quick thank you to the person who brought it out. When I get back to the table I see Josh is already there.

"alright so where do we wanna start?"

"we could just brainstorm a few ideas and see what we wanna do with it?" I suggested

"yea sounds good"

"hey what's that on your cup?" he asks

"huh?" I asked confused and look down at my cup. There's a phone number with a little message

'you're cute call me'

A little weirded out I look back at the counter and see the dude who took my order is already looking at me. I give him a small forced smile and sit down.

"oh it's nothing just my name" I didn't want Josh to think I wanted to talk to anyone but him. I wanted him to know he had my attention without telling him that I've liked him forever.

"oh okay" he didn't seem to question it. It's times like this that I'm glad men are stupid.

We started the project and it didn't take very long to decide what we were doing. We decided on doing a first person point of view over singing and dancing in the rain with your best friend(s). We started writing but decided to stop after writing a few paragraphs.

I kept the cup so the guy from the counter didn't think i was rude or whatever but when we stepped out of the building I asked Josh if he was looking and when he said no I threw it away.

I drove home thinking about the time I just had with Josh. It was perfect. We talked about the project and towards the end we asked questions about each other. He told me he had 3 siblings. 1 older brother 1 older sister and 1 younger sister. He told me other things about his home life and I told him stuff about mine.

When I got home and didn't seen my moms car in the driveway it just reminded me that she wasn't here. She was away with Matt. I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried.

It's just strange the more I think about it. Matt randomly shows up after years of being in Spain. Then he tried "rejoining" the family and moving in. Then a day later he goes in a sudden business trip with my mom? it doesn't make sense. He wants something I just don't know what he would want.

When I go inside Jacob is sitting in the same spot he was when I left 3 hours ago. On the couch. The only difference is the paper plates and chip bags on the coffee table. He is watching the movie American Assassin. That movie is so freaking good. And Dylan O'brien is just ugh he's just perfect. Why you might ask? I can't really explain it. I haven't got the words. okay okay i'm done. Anyways I sit on the seat right next to the couch and start watching it with him.

A few hours passed and I start heading upstairs to do homework and other things. I had a few assignments I needed to complete but it wasn't much. I finished in about 30 minutes. After my homework I just sat on my bed and started reading my book. I finished the Odyssey and now i'm re reading the Maze Runner series.

After I read almost 50 pages I decided to put the book down and scroll through instagram for a bit. I saw that Josh posted so I went to his profile and checked it out. My heart almost broke when I saw that it was with Becca, the head cheerleader, at the fair.

I didn't know what I expected to come out of us hanging out together for 3 hours but it hurt knowing he hung out with me and then just went straight to her.

After I saw his post I turned instagram off and called Sierra and Maddy. On the call we talked about Becca and Josh, made fun of Angel, gossiped about the basketball team, and then we talked about a bunch of random things.

Calls with these girls are never boring. I'm so grateful for them and all their craziness. After a while Maddy said she had to go to sleep and soon after Sierra said the same. Before I went to bed though I went downstairs to get a snack. I just had a banana so I could go back upstairs and sleep.

It didn't take very long for me to fall asleep and let a certain blue eyed boy take over my dreams.

but anyways i'm a little busy with school and reading
