Kade POV

I am lying down with Jasmine on top of me. I watch as she lets out soft snores. I draw circles on her naked back and kiss her forehead.

I move her off of me and sit up. I stretch out my body and go to the bathroom. I turn the shower on and wait for the water to get warm. I get in and take a ten-minute shower.

I get dressed and head downstairs. I grab my car keys and go to my car. I drive to a bar that is an hour away.

Once I get to the bar I look around and walk to the entrance. The bouncer lets me by without patting me down and I walk to the bar.

I order a drink and twenty minutes later someone sits down beside me. I look at them and then back at my drink.

"Who gives out a time to meet and shows up twenty minutes late?"

He laughs at me and signals for the bartender, "I got caught up with something. I didn't think you would show up on time anyway."

I take a sip of my drink, "I only showed up on time because you're Jasmine's father, but you don't have to worry about me showing up on time next time."

He lets out a low chuckle, "Because I'm Jasmine's father I get special treatment from Kade Knight."

"Why did you want to meet with me?"

"You found the box with a list of names in it?" I look at him with wide eyes and he laughs.

"I went to go dig it up, but when I got there it's already gone. There were only three people around the day that box got buried. Me, you, and your father."

I start thinking back and I shake my head, "No, it was just me and my dad. I don't remember anybody else."

He signals for the bartender and orders us both another drink.

He looks around and then back at me, "Your dad used to tell me how smart you were and how aware of the world you were at such a young age. So me being me decided to see this child."

The bartender returns with our drinks and he takes a sip, "So I start coming to your home with Titus. When Titus came home late you were up asking him questions. Asking him why he's always away for so long."

He looks at me, "You didn't believe the bullshit answers you would normally tell a kid. So Titus not able to think of anything tells you to not worry about it. But I noticed a look in your eye that said you weren't just forgetting these things."

I look at him, "You were so focused on trying to figure out what Titus was hiding that you forgot your surroundings."

"A week after your birthday your dad tells me that you didn't question him when he came back days later. Curiosity grew on me by the second after he told me that. I come to your house and go to Titus's office. I see his office door cracked, Titus would never make a simple mistake like that. I slowly get to his office and see you looking through files. You had your laptop typing in all types of information."

My eyes widen as I remember the exact night, "Why didn't you stop me?"

He starts laughing, "Why? So you can try harder to figure out what's going on? Kade, I honestly wanted to see how it all played out. It was all fun and games until my daughter got involved."

I show him a teasing smirk, "Couldn't handle the fact that your baby girl was with me."

"The day Titus buried the box I was with you two. I was across the lake watching him. Not only was I watching him, but also you. I saw you watch your dad as he buried the box."
