Keeping Sanity Intact

Kade POV

I am looking at the list of names I found in the box my dad buried. I look for the name Tobias and call for Nancy.

She comes in, "Can you search up the name Tobias? All I have is his name. Let me know if you find anything out of the ordinary."

She nods her head and I look out the window and see Zaiden and Jasmine fighting.

"Kade, why am I in here?" I look at Lyric who is sitting on my desk while looking outside.

"Why couldn't I watch Zaidy and Jasmine fight?"

I flip the box over and everything falls out. Lyric laughs, "Giving up already?"

I look inside the now empty box and all over, "What are you looking for?" Lyric asks.

"If his name is not on the list or any of these papers his name needs to be somewhere."

Lyric laughs, "Not giving up but running out of options."

I give her a look and she looks the other way with a smile.

I look back at the box and look at the edges of the box and see numbers and letters carved on the edges of the lid.

I write it down and call for Nancy. She comes in and stands in front of me and Lyric.

I hand her the paper and she looks at it, "Can you find out what this is? Once you do come back and tell me."

She nods her head and before she can walk off I stop her. "Please."

Lyric raises her eyebrow at me and Nancy shows me a small smile and nods her head. "Yes. I'll be back once I figure it out."

She walks out and Lyric starts humming, "Why are you holding your tongue now?"

She shrugs her shoulders, "No reason."

"If Cain or Zaiden say anything about this I won't buy you doughnuts ever again." I say without looking at her.

She lets out a loud gasp, "I swear! I won't say anything!"

All of a sudden my phone rings and I look at Lyric, "Close the door."

She does as I say and I answer the phone, "I'm guessing you decided to handle this on your own considering I woke up to no phone calls or anything."

I roll my eyes, "Are you going to tell me who this Tobias is?"

He hums in response and then sighs, "He may be someone who could help you or someone who wants to kill one of us."

Bunny raises her hand, "Wait, I can't keep secrets from Zaidy. Zaidy always knows."

Joseph clears his throat, "Zaidy? Is that that crazy girl? Zaidy is Zaiden, right?" He questions.

"Let the crazy ass couple join. This should be something to see." He laughs out.

I look at Lyric and she still has her hand up, "Put your hand down. Don't worry I'll tell Zaiden what's going on."

She nods her head and puts her hand down.

"Now tell me who this Tobias is."

He takes a deep breath, "Tobias is William's brother."

I shake my head, "No, why would I want to go ask anybody related to him anything? That's not happening."

"Tobias and William don't have the brother relationship you would think. William forced Tobias to sign over his half of the inheritance from their parents. William beat and tortured Tobias until Tobias finally gave in. William didn't stop there, he shoots Tobias in both of his kneecaps causing Tobias to have knee problems for the rest of his life."
