Hi, I'm Marco, so lovely to meet you" he said, kissing Maya on both cheeks.
"Hi" Maya said smiling, she wasn't intentionally blunt to him, she just was overthinking so much that she didn't know what to say.
Carina let out a quiet sigh, "let's sit" she said smiling at the duo. Carina sat next to Maya and Marco was opposite.
The waiter came over, "can I get you guys something to drink?".
"White wine please" Carina said, smiling.
"I'll have a beer, grazie" Marco said, and Maya added, "and one for me too please". The waiter walked in the opposite direction to sort their order.
"Beer Maya? Well, I like you already" Marco laughed. Carina playfully nudged her girlfriend's shoulder with her own as she laughed along, in attempt to loosen the blonde up a little.
"Carina tell me about your job, I don't think we have seen each other since you got promoted" Marco enquired.
"No, I don't think we have. I absolutely love it, I get to work with such talented artists, it's so inspiring".
"Talented definitely, I have heard your music Maya, it's amazing. I heard a few tracks on the radio back home, but I never put the pieces together until Carina mentioned you. I searched you up and listened again, you're so gifted". Marco said, making Maya ease her stiffness a little.
"Thank you, I do try my best" she laughed a little, "but it honestly down to the people around me too".
"Bambina no! Don't downplay your talents, you're amazing" Carina said, kissing her cheek.
Carina and Marco caught up on what they had missed, both trying to involve Maya as much as possible in the conversation.
"Enough about us, we can talk about that another time. I want to know about Maya" Marco said interested. "Have you met Andrea yet?".
"Yes, I have, he's so lovely. He's already like the brother I never had".
"He certainly is. Speaking of what is he up to now?" Marco asked.
"He is back in LA now permanently for his job. He has a girlfriend who we met last weekend" Carina said, turning to Maya and taking hold of her hand under the table, "didn't we bella" Carina smiled.
"Yeah, we did, it was quite eventful that night" Maya chuckled.
"How so?" the Italian man asked.
"Well first off, we got to the restaurant and Serena was nowhere to be seen. She came back to the table and I instantly thought oh shit!" she laughed, Marco laughing with her. "Turns out I used to date Andrea's now girlfriend" Maya said. Marco was now laughing his head off. Carina was so glad the two were clearly getting along without her intervening as they were beginning to find common ground. "But it's fine now, we had a great evening..." Maya took a sip from her beer, "oh yeah until we got to Andrea's house and I asked him for all the gossip about Carina's past. Your name came up, and I guess I got a little... erm..." "jealous?" Carina interjected. "No way!" Marco laughed. "Yes, I know, but if someone is going to tell me that someone else used to kiss my girl on a regular basis, how do you think I would react" Maya said, holding her hands in the air. Marco giggled, "yeah I get you, it's just funny because you picked me to get jealous of, but we are such good friends now, nothing like that would ever happen again".
"So, there's others I should be jealous of? Do tell me more" Maya whispered, leaning over the table to Marco.
"Nope, I'm not doing this again, park it, Bishop!" Carina demanded. All three of them laughed together.
