Before their parting, before their marriage even occured, a child was born.
They say he was as ugly as the day is beautiful.
Born to a father whose identity was long forgotten and a mother, disgraced because of his birth.
A boy born into a cruel world, which held no love nor acceptance.
Born to a hateful mother, who tried to kill him with every chance she had.
He roamed the streets by day and slept in alleyways at night.
When he was hungry he stole food from street venders, but if they caught him they would beat him till his body was covered with bruises. Even then, all he had to eat were bugs and dead animals, sometimes with flesh so putrid that after he forced down a bite, it would all come rushing back up.
That was the life of this pitiful child, he had no name, no identity, he was just a creature to most, one that no one could bear to gaze upon

It was a cold stormy day when he heard the cry of a baby. He had listened to the screams of his mother before he saw her.
His sister.
She had white hair akin to snow.
Her eyes were large innocent jewels which twinkled like blue stars.
When he saw her, for the first time in his life, he smiled.
And he called her name:
"Ume."
