It had been many years, since Airi had become a mother.
And she had lived in quiet peace for a long time.
She had tried to forget her past, tried to burn away the memories which pained her whenever she remembered her husband, his love, their love.
But it had never worked.
Her pain would always be there, underneath the smile she showed her children.

She was walking in a field of flowers, her hands intertwined with those of her children, the sun shone bright and warm overhead, and she smiled as she looked into their joyful eyes.
Then their hands slipped from her grasp and they ran on ahead.
She listened laughter as they jumped into the arms of their father, his grey eyes twinkled like lapis grey gems.
Daichi smiled as he walked to her side.
How wonderful it would be, if her dream was a reality.
She snapped out of her fitful dream as her frame shook with coughs.
Her eyes stung when they opened to thick black smoke.
Her pupils dilated as she realized what was happening, their home was on fire.
Pulling herself up, she gripped her throat as she crawled toward her daughter's room.
The little girl, who had just turned 10 a few days ago, laid in a fetal position on her futon.
"Ume." Airi rasped out, shaking the girl's shoulder as her lungs burned.
Yet, the girl didn't wake up.
Forcing herself to remain calm, she gingerly picked up the white haired little girl and started for the nearest exit, the back door.
But it was so far away, and the flames had spread.
She wasn't going to make it, they weren't going to make it.
As the door in front of her, and the walls around her, lit up with fire.
"Ume." Airi barely heard herself over the roar of the flames as twin tears slipped from her eyes.
"I'm sorry." She whispered.
Then, gathering the last of her strength, she rushed forward toward the blazing door.
