6 : Haunted Library ?

The bell rang. It was time for our first class. We went into our class, and found Professor Joanne already in the class. She didn't mind us though. A few minutes later, she announced.

"Good morning students. I have something really important to tell you. A few rules to follow while in this campus. I thought this might not be needed to be told, but I guess it is now." She paused and looked around the whole class for a few seconds, and continued " No bullying, fighting, or any sort of mischief will be tolerated while you are in this campus. But outside those gates, we are not responsible to whatever happens to you. "

"Late comers will get only three warnings. If repeated, you will be suspended. Don't take unnecessary leaves unless you have a legit reason." Niall and Harry smiled at me. "You can use to library only during recess, and free hours only. Library cards will be issued in a few days from now , because you can't borrow a book unless you have one." She paused again. "That's all for now, and let's begin our class for today."

"Uggh!" Niall said in a silent voice.

It was recess. Finally. Sitting for four hours straight listening to lectures is not easy. We all rushed to the cafeteria to have our lunch, except for Zayn. He wasn't with us.

"Where did Zayn go?" I asked Elsa

"I don't know. He'll be here anyways." she said. That didn't sound satisfactory to me. A few minutes later, Lisa came up to our table.

"Waddup slut? Where's your boyfriend ? Is he DEAD ?" She asked Elsa.

Elsa didn't even lift her face to Lisa. She just continued eating. On seeing that, she yelled "CAN'T YOU HEAR ME YOU DUMBASS ? WHAT'S THE MATTER WITH YOU, HUH ?"

Elsa still didn't reply to that. Lisa then pushed her plate down from the table onto the floor scattering all the food on her lap and the floor.

 Elsa stood up angrily and was about to slap her, but Lisa caught her hand and said "Not so fast you idiot. Do you know what will happen to you if I complain about this ?" She kept twisting Elsa's arm making her scream in pain. "You heard that Joanne didn't you ? No fighting. No-.." I tried to pull her off, but she just kept pushing me away.

 I finally grabbed Lisa by her jacket, and pushed her to the floor. She got up, tried to push me, but I didn't move. She tried to slap me, but I avoided it. I punched her in the face twice. She fell on the floor, trying to get up but she couldn't. Her lips were bleeding.

"Don't you dare touch her, or any of us again...OR ELSE !" I said, pointing my finger at her, and kept staring at her.  Her friends helped her get up, and they just walked away. I went to help Elsa.

"Are you alright?" I asked her.

"I guess...just a sprained fist. That's all." She replied.

"That...was AWESOME Audrey !" Louis said. "But you know you could get in trouble for this. Her dad-.."

"I don't give a damn about her dad. Let me see what they can do to ME." I said.

"She deserved it." Liam said.

"Thank you Audrey." Elsa said, and hugged me. There was silence for a couple of minutes after that. But a loud scream from somewhere broke the silence.

"What was that?" Liam asked.

"Some guy...for sure." I said.

"Not any guy. That was ZAYN." Elsa panicked.

Everyone from the cafeteria ran outside. No one knew where the sound came from.

"Where could he probably be?" Elsa asked. She got really scared.

"Let's check the library." Liam said.

"The LIBRARY?" I asked in a shocking tone. Me, Niall and Harry exchanged looks.

"Come on, let's go." Liam said. We all ran up to the library. Elsa was climbing 2-3 stairs at a time. When we reached the third floor, we found a huge crowd outside the library.

"Zayn !" Elsa screamed and ran towards the library. I ran behind her. She pushed the people and somehow got in.

To our shock, we found Zayn, lying unconscious on a janitor's lap.

Elsa ran towards him, started patting on his cheeks yelling "ZAYN...WAKE UP !!!" The librarian bought water and sprinkled it on his face. He woke up with a start.

"NO...DON'T KILL ME. LEAVE ME ALONE. DON'T KILL ME !!!!" He screamed. Elsa's jaw dropped open.

"What are you talking about Zayn?" Elsa asked. I was scared now.

"Lift him up and take him to some open space." I protested. We carried him out from the library to a nearby empty classroom.  Luckily, no one wanted to follow us there.

We got in the room and I shut the door.

"What happened Zayn?" Elsa asked. She was crying now. He got up from his lap and started "I saw-..."

"You saw what ?" I asked.

"I was reading some book. I put it back because I couldn't borrow it, and decided to take it when I get a library card. As I placed my book on the shelf, I saw a marking on the side of the shelf. It looked like there were two letters V spaced almost close to each other, below that a small vertical line, and below that another V and a horizontal line just touching the tip of the V. The whole thing was about the size of my palm. " he paused. We all were just staring at him in dilemma.

"I found it weird though. I turned back to leave the library, but I was stopped by a black figure of a lady a few feet in front of me." Niall's and Liam's eyes widened in terror. Elsa's hands over her mouth in shock.

"I saw that figure just for about half a second, after which a black shadowy figure of a man appeared right in front of it. He said :

You must not be here. Go away. Save yourself.

 "On hearing that, both the whatever or whoever it was dissolved into thin air, swept pass my legs,  and vanished. I screamed in terror, and tried to run out of the library, but half way through, I collapsed, unconscious." He stopped and looked at all of us just staring at him.
