Chapter 10- Why would you do that my tesoro?

Federico's POV

I woke up stretching my hand towards Hailey only to notice that she is not beside me. Okay maybe she is in the bathroom I thought before heading towards my bathroom to see that its empty. Well maybe she went to get dressed. I shrugged and went to my walk in closet to get dressed. I have put on a black suit with white shirt under. I combed my hair making it look a little better and went to Haileys room. What was weird is the fact that she wasn't there but I saw a piece of paper on her bed. Scrunching my eyebrows in confusion I took it and started reading.

Dear Federico, I know you are currently upset by my leaving but I want you to know that even though our relationship lasted a few hours it was the best few hours of my life and I will treasure that memory for life. I don't want you to look for me but find someone new and fall in love. I promise that I am doing this only to protect you, Aria and Kai because you are my family and I would do anything to see you alive and well.

WHAT? Why the fuck would she leave and what does it mean to protect us? I scrunched the paper in my hand and tried calling her but of course her phone was here. I noticed another paper scrunched on the floor next to the bedside table. I picked it up only to see it was a note from Anthony. I sat down on her bed feeling lost. She handed herself over to protect me. To protect my family. And I called her a traitor. My heart stung like somebody just pierced it with a knife and is twisting it continuously. Why would you that my tesoro? Why would you go and suffer again just because of me?

I grabbed my phone again and called Kai. " Kai, vieni nel mio ufficio con Aria e sbrigati." (Kai, come to my office with Aria and hurry.) I said as soon as he picked up. I didn't wait for an answer but cut the line and went to my office. In the matter of seconds they came rushing because they know something is wrong when I speak urgently and in Italian. "Cosa sta succedendo fratello?" (What is going on brother?) Aria asked with worry in her voice and I handed her both notes. "Leggi questo." (Read this.) I said. Both her and Kai read it with scrunched eyebrows. "Perche cazzo dovrebbe farlo?" (Why the fuck would she do that?) Kai asked with wide eyes. "Oh mio Dio. Si e solo sacrificata. Per noi?" (Oh my God. She just sacrificed herself. For us?) Aria asked sitting on the chair in shock. "Si. E sai cosa le hanno fatto l'ultima volta." (Yes. And you know what they did to her last time.) I answered running a hand through my hair. "We have to save her Federico." Aria said with tears in her eyes. "I know." I answered nodding. Just then we heard knocking on the door. "Hello bithces." Nicholas said entering my office. "Whats with the long faces?" He asked confused. "Nicholas you are here." Aria said getting up to hug him. "That's good we need all the back up we can." I said. "For what? I just got here and I have to work? You didn't even give me a proper welcome." He pouted.

"Hailey is captured." Aria said and his eyes widened. "Hailey? As in your girlfriend Hailey?" He said pointing at me. I nodded. "How the fuck did you allow that she gets captured and isnt she an assassin!?" He yelled. "Will you fucking stop yelling in my office!?" I yelled back already frustrated enough without his blabbering. "She got a note where they blackmailed her with our lives." Kai explained. "So she handed herself over to Anthony." I finished. "Anthony? As in THE Anthony?" Nicholas asked. "Yes. She was already tortured by him before becoming an assassin and he forced her into the marriage and now he wants her back." Aria said. "I know it was not my place to tell but it will be easier for you to understand. And when we get her back don't mention that you know about her story." She added and Nicholas nodded. "So whats the plan?" He asked taking a seat. "We don't have one because we just found the notes." I explained. "For now we have the location she went to meet him. We can go and search for any clue there and then maybe hack into nearby cameras. We can start from that." Aria suggested. "Yes I agree." I nodded. "Get ready we are leaving right now. Nicholas you can rest if you want you don't have to come." I said getting up and putting my gun in the holster. "Are you crazy? I have to go and save my future sister in law." He said also getting up.
