Tohru's Little Sister

Chapter 24

Tokiko stood there frozen in fear. Kyo was running aimlessly at the location he was sure Tohru fell to. Tohru was barely conscious laying on a small ledge. Her face and body were covered in blood. She could barely breath and her vision was blurred. Akito stood there shaken. She said, "I didn't push her! I didn't push her!" Hatori walked up to Akito and said, "Oh Akito, why'd you do it?" Akito placed her hands in her hair. She kept repeating, "I didn't push her!" Tokiko's next initial thought was to charge at Akito. She went full force at her. She punched Akito in the face and climbed on top of her. She continued to punch her in her face. It was like something other than Tokiko had taken over her. The boys were yelling for her to stop. Shigure charged at Tokiko and pulled her away from Akito. Everyone gasped. Tokiko clung to Shigure and cried into his arms. Yuki said, "Shigure....why didn't you transform?" Shigure said, "I guess it's time that I tell you guys. A few days ago, my curse broke. I was going to wait to tell you guys but since you now know it's the right time." Tokiko had punched Akito unconscious. Kureno said, "I'll get her to a hospital...." Haru and Momiji said, "Her?!" Ayame said, "My Oh My! Everyone is spilling secrets today!"
Tokiko couldn't do anything but cry. Shigure's build reminded her so much of her dads. He was tall and slender. Even their hair was almost identical. Shigure just stood there and let Tokiko cry. For those tears were being held for years now. Kyo ran and ran with only finding Tohru on his mind. Kyo said to himself, "Akito does not own me and she will pay for this! I will never forgive her!" Just then, something inside Kyo snapped. He stopped running and stared into the sky. A single tear fell from his cheek. He had no idea what it was, but it made him feel completely different. He was brought back to his senses and continued to run. He came to a small ledge and looked over it. And just as he thought, Tohru was laying there. Tears filled Kyo's eyes. He gently climbed down the ledge to get to her.
He wiped a little of blood off her face and started shaking. He was having a panic attack. He grabbed Tohru and held her head. A single tear fell from his eye and onto her face. Just then, Yuki, Haru and Momiji leaned over the ledge. Momiji said, "Kyo! You found her!" Kyo looked up and said, "Please call an ambulance! She's barely breathing!" Yuki got up and ran back towards the house and Kyo lifted Tohru up and climbed back up the ledge. Haru said, "Kyo....you're holding Tohru...and you're not transforming." Kyo said, "I don't know how or why, but my curse just broke. I don't have time to explain it let's go." The 3 ran back to Shigure's house. Shigure had walked back to the house with Tokiko still wrapped in his arms. Tokiko whispered, "Please don't let go Shigure...." Shigure patted her on the back and said, "Take all the time you need." Just then, Kyo and the boys ran into the house. Yuki had just finished talking on the phone.
Tokiko looked up over Shigure's shoulder and seen Kyo carrying Tohru. He gently laid her down on the floor. Tokiko jolted out of Shigure's arms and screamed, "Kyo Oniichan!!!" Kyo looked up just in time cause Tokiko jumped into his arms. Kyo was finally happy to be able to hold the little sister he never had. Tokiko said, "I'm so happy you found her!" Yuki came around the corner and said, "Ambulance is outside!" Kyo put Tokiko down and they walked hand in hand outside. 2 men from the ambulance said, "Where's the girl?" Kyo pointed into the living room and the 2 men walked inside. One of the men said, "Only one of you can ride in the ambulance." Kyo and Tokiko made eye contact and Kyo nudged her. Tokiko said, "Are you sure?" Kyo smiled and nodded. He petted Tokiko on the head. She sat inside the ambulance and waited for the men to bring Tohru out the house. They quickly hustled into the ambulance and drove away.
Momiji said, "We should try to get some rest. It's nearly dark out right now. We'll go visit her in the morning....Ok Kyo?" Kyo was still standing outside. Yuki patted Momiji on the shoulder and said, "That's a good idea. You guys can sleep here and we'll all go in the morning." Yuki also said, "I guess I better call Hanajima and Uotani before I go to sleep." Momiji and Haru slept in Kyo's room while Kyo slept in the girls old room. Kyo prayed that everything would be fine and Tohru would wake up. Tokiko sat in front of Tohru in the ambulance. Tohru's face was badly bruised and her skin was a white pale color. Tokiko said, "Gurl...you look like shit... you have to pull through. You promised me that you wouldn't leave me! Don't break your promise Tohru!" Tokiko gripped Tohru's hand hoping she'd grip it back. They soon reached the hospital. The 2 men carried Tohru into the hospital and she was took into surgery. No one would tell Tokiko what was wrong with her.
Tokiko had to sit in the waiting room alone all night waiting on answers. Akito was in a room on the far side of the hospital. She was recovering well from the beating. Kureno, Hatori and Ayame were sitting by her side. She opened her eyes and said, "Where's Tohru? Where's Shigure?" Kureno said, "Tohru is here as well. Last I heard, she's in surgery right now. I think Shigure is at his house with the boys." Akito said, "Why didn't he come to see me? Like the 3 of you?" Hatori said, "You shouldn't talk much Akito. You need to rest." Ayame said, "How are you feeling?" Akito said, "My lip is bruised...but I'm fine. I just need to know how Tohru's doing." Hatori said, "Why? We all know that you pushed her Akito." Akito shot up out the bed and said, "The ground gave out under her! We were hugging! She pushed me away after she realized what was happening! She risked her life to keep me safe! I didn't push her! I swear!" Hatori, Kureno and Ayame shared a glance. Akito laid there tear eyed.
Tokiko was fast asleep in the waiting room. At about 3 AM a doctor enters the waiting room. He said, "Ms. Honda?" Tokiko jolted up and said, "Yes?! How's Tohru?" The doctor rubbed a hand through his hair. He said, "She's alive...but she barely survived. The impact knocked the wind out of her and excess debris had fallen on her after she landed on the ledge." Tokiko said, "She wasn't pushed?" The doctor said, "A push is not consistent with her injuries. She seems as though whatever ground she was standing on suddenly gave out under her. Maybe have been a sudden eruption through the soil." Tokiko thought to herself, "Akito was telling the truth...." The doctor said, "She's been moved to a room now. But, she's asleep. We're not sure when she'll wake up, but she's in stable condition. You may see her now if you'd like." Tokiko perked and immediately followed the doctor.
