Tohru's Little Sister

Chapter 14

Tokiko was going in and out of consciousness from the kicks. She could barely breathe and she was bloody. Momiji was still trying to get Akito off of Tokiko. Akito kept repeating the words, "You are nothing! I'll never let you take them away from me!" A single tear rolled down from Tokiko's face. Kyo and Tohru were running at full speed to the Sohma Estate. Yuki was trailing behind running out of breath from running so fast. Kyo said, "Keep up, ya dumb rat!" Tohru finally reached the Estate. She ran straight in and bumped into Hatori. He said, "Are you Tohru? Cause you look just like Tokiko." Tohru said, "I am...how do you know my sister?" Hatori said, "Through Momiji he talks about her all the time." Tohru thought back to the reason she was there. She said, "Take me to Momiji's house please!" Hatori pointed across the street to a house behind him and said, "His house is behind that house." Tohru thanked Hatori and ran in that direction.
Soon Kyo and Yuki entered the Estate. Hatori said, "If you're looking for the girl, I just sent her to Momiji's house." Both Kyo and Yuki darted in that direction. Tohru turned a corner and seen a glimpse of Momiji's blond hair. She ran towards him and said, "Momiji! Have you seen" Before she could finish her sentence, she seen Tokiko's face all bloody and beaten up. Akito turned around and said, "Who the hell are you and why are you here?" Tohru completely ignored Akito's question and wondered mindlessly over to Tokiko who was barely conscious. Her hands started shaking. Akito said, "So you're the little bitch's big sister? Tch!" Just then, Tohru started screaming so loud everyone in the Estate could hear. Kyo and Yuki's eyes grew big once they turned the corner. Kyo yelled, "Akito you bitch! How could you hurt Tokiko like that?! You're a monster!" Akito walked over to Kyo and said, "You're wrong KyO...You're the monster here...." Akito chuckled. Tohru continued to scream.
Soon people were gathering around to see what was happening. Momiji was trying to comfort Tohru as much as he can. One of Akito's servants appeared and said, "Akito Sama, it's time to return to your room now.." Akito said, "You, you and you are not allowed to speak or see these two rodents ever again...ya hear me?!" Kyo, Momiji and Yuki bowed their head. Akito walked away. Yuki said, "Neither one of us can carry her, well transform..." Just then, Haru walked up and said, "I'll transform and she can ride on my back to Shigure's house. Tohru said, "Thank you so much Haru." Tohru dragged Tokiko around a corner and Haru followed them. He hugged Tohru tight and said, "You look like you could use a hug." Before Tohru could hug back, Haru transformed into a cow. Tohru laid Tokiko on top of Haru. Momiji covered up her with his jacket. Kyo, Yuki, Momiji, Tohru and Haru all walked to Shigure's house in silence.
Momiji said, "I'm so sorry Tohru that I couldn't do more to help her..." Tohru sly way smiled at Momiji and said, "It's fine...I know you would've protected her more if you could." Kyo said, "She needs to go to the hospital...her face looks really bad." Tohru said, "We can't...she's terrified of hospitals. She has been ever since she was little. She always refuses to go. I got to treat her at home." Yuki said, "Akito said...we're not allowed to see you guys anymore. Do you have somewhere else to go? I have money to put you guys in an apartment if need be.." Tohru said, "I actually put a down payment on a house for when I was to move out of Mr. Shigure's house. It already has furniture and everything...I guess we have to move there earlier than I expected." Momiji said, "Where did you get the money for it? You've only been working at my dads building for a few days..." Tohru said, "My co-workers paid for everything, it was so nice of them!" Yuki said, "That was quite nice of them...Well we will help bring you guys stuff over." Tohru said, "I'd love that and I'm sure Tokiko would as well."
The 6 reached Shigure's house. Shigure was standing outside when he seen them walking up. He ran over to Tokiko and said, "Hatori called and told me what happened. I sincerely do apologize Tohru on behalf of Akito." Tohru said, "It's fine Mr. Shigure...we just need to get Tokiko taken care of." Shigure opened the doors as wide as he could so Haru could fit through. He walked into the living room and Tohru glided Tokiko off his back. Tohru carried her up the stairs. She said, "Come upstairs when he transforms." The 4 of them said, "Ok!" Tohru walked into the bathroom and drew Tokiko a warm bath. At this point, Tokiko was completely unconscious and had been since before they left the Estate. Tohru placed her in the bath water. Tokiko's body was limp in the water. Tohru started to cry when she was washing the dried blood off Tokiko's body. She gently wiped the one dried tear from her face. She unraveled Tokiko's hair bows and dumped water on her head. To keep from crying, Tohru hummed the same lullaby their momma used to sing to them.
She ran a comb through her hair. She grabbed Tokiko's face and stared at it. Her once bright skin was so pale. Her eyelashes used to be so long and straight, now they were wet and clumped probably from her crying. She had a bruise under her eye from getting kicked repeatedly in that same area. Tohru said, "Tokiko...you really do look just like daddy...you have his nose, and his eyes, even his bone structure." Tohru started to laugh. She let the water out and went to grab a towel. Kyo, Yuki and Momiji came up the stairs. Yuki said, "How is she?" Tohru said, "She's still unconscious, but I just finished bathing her. I was gonna get her dressed and just have her lay in the bed." Kyo said, "Shigure is making chicken noodle soup just in case she wakes up." Momiji said, "I can't believe this is happening..." Kyo said, "It's ok bunny boy, your girlfriend is a soldier." Momiji's face turned red. He said, "She's not my girlfriend! She just means a lot to me..." He walked into Yuki's room and closed the door. Yuki said, "I better go talk to him." Kyo said, "I'll help you prepare Mini Me for bed."
Tohru grabbed the towel and walked back into the bathroom. Tokiko was still laying in that same spot Tohru left her. Tohru stood Tokiko up and wrapped the towel around her. Tohru scooped her up and walked into the bedroom. Kyo had laid out her favorite pajamas and made the bed. Tohru said, "Thank you so much Kyo...for all your help.." He saluted his hand as he walked out the room. Tohru laid Tokiko on the bed as she dressed her. She said, "I remember watching momma dress you when you were a little ball of cuteness. You'd never stop squirming around, it was so funny! She'd make me distract you so you could be still.." Tohru looked up at Tokiko and she still hadn't moved. She laid Tokiko's head on her lap. She wrapped Tokiko's hair bows back into her hair. She made her 2 pig tails. Tohru said to herself, "She'd want it like this...cause momma loved it on her." Tohru slid Tokiko under the covers on the bed. She propped her head up on the pillow. She kissed Tokiko's forehead and walked over to her moms picture. She said, "Hey momma, it's Tohru...please make To-Chan wake up...Make her well again momma. Thank you so much and we love you."
Tohru went to the closet and pulled out a bunch of creams. She started to put them one by one onto the bruise on Tokiko's face. The bruise started to go away a little. Tohru said, "That should be enough. The rest of it will be applied when she wakes up. For now, that's good." Kyo walked back into the room and said, "You tucked her in?" Tohru nodded her head. He sat down next to Tohru and said, "Don't beat yourself up about this. We didn't know that it was gonna happen. Neither did she...Just give her some time to rest...She'll wake up real soon." Tohru started to cry. She said, "I wish I could hug you Kyo...It's like you understand her more than I do and she's my sister. You've always been there for her and I thank you for that. You were the one who she clung to and I was sometimes jealous of you to be honest, but you are the brother she never had. I just want her to wake up!" Kyo started to tear up and said, "I was supposed to protect her always...and I failed...I let Akito get to her...and there's nothing I can do to help her right now. I feel so worthless Tohru...and I've only felt this way one other time".
The two sat on the bed crying. Momiji was sitting on Yuki's bed playing with the hem of his shirt. Yuki said, "You have to calm down Momiji. She will wake up...I know she will." Momiji said, "I know she will, but...she didn't deserve that. I was supposed to protect her." Yuki rubbed his hand through his hair. He said, "Momiji, do you love Tokiko?" Momiji said, "Hatori asked me the same thing...and of course I love her, she's my friend." Yuki said, "You know what I mean by love Momiji...do you love her?" Momiji stared Yuki straight into his eyes. He started to cry and said, "I was trying so hard not to fall in love with her Yuki! Being her friend is so amazing...I've always wondered what it would be like...to be more than friends. I know she doesn't like me back, so I just never said anything to her about it. It boils deep inside of me...knowing that I love her and she doesn't love me back. I'll never get that love back from her, and I'll never be able to tell her." Yuki patted Momiji on the head and said, "Your opportunity is going to come and when it does...take the chance. Just go straight for it and tell her how you feel ok? I'm behind you 100%." Momiji looked up at Yuki and said, "You mean it?" Yuki smiled and said, "Of course I do.." Momiji wiped his tears and said, "Alright then I'll do it!" Kyo and Tohru were still crying about Tokiko. A few hours later, Tokiko slowly opened her eye lids. Her mouth was dry and her voice was hoarse. But she managed to say, "Tohru" in a whispered voice.
