Y/n POV

I am so not looking forward this!

My thoughts raced as I swayed with the movement of the train. I know I am going to be entirely too early but since it's my first day at a new school I decided I'd rather be early than late. I'm pretty sure I know the way (I mean I did force Mom on an "adventure" this weekend so I could try to memorize the route!) but I am still really happy to see a Date Tech jacket on a guy in the same train car as me! He's really tall, probably a third year. I'll just follow him at a distance and hope he doesn't notice me!

As the train begins to slow I realize that this is my stop. Only partially because the guy I've been staring at starts to make his way to the doors.

As I follow my unwitting guide, I make sure to take note of memorable landmarks. I did this with Mom too, but it never hurts to have a refresher course on your own! I'm happy to say that I did pretty well remembering the way. There were a few places that I would have had to take longer to think about had my guide not been present.

Maybe I should get him a milk or something on one of our breaks to say thanks! Nah!! That would probably be too weird since he doesn't actually know I'm following him!

The school gates finally come in to view and, as expected, I am about an hour and a half too early. Oh well! Time to explore campus. I jokingly wave goodbye to the back of my guide's head!

"See you later, stranger." OK, probably not but still!

I meander through campus taking mental notes of which buildings are where. As the grounds fill up with students I decide it is time to make my way to the office to get my class assignment. I don't expect to be in any advanced classes. My grades tend to be about average. They'd probably be better if I actually studied, but no one has time for that!

The principal goes through a rather long welcome speech that makes me wish I had come to the office sooner! By the time he's finished I'm five minutes late for my first class! I'm tempted to run to class, which I actually remember passing on the way here, but let's be honest: I never run.

My hands start to shake as I slide the door open. Of course it has to make a ridiculous amount of noise and draw everyone's attention! Mustering what I hope is a kind smile and not a nervous grimace I walk forward to take the hand of the smiling teacher!

"Welcome! You must be (l/n)-San. Please introduce yourself to the class!"

Yeah! Cause that's not the most awkward thing you could ask a new student to do!

"Hello, I'm (l/n) (y/n)! I hope we all get along!" I say, bowing slightly to the class.

"Wonderful! You can have a seat next to Aone! Aone, raise your hand so she can find you." The teacher lightly grabs my arm moving closer to whisper, "I'm sorry, but it's the only open seat."

Sorry?! Why would they be sorry?

I look around to find my new deskmate only to see the slow rising hand of none other than my guide!!

Aone POV

I should have seen this coming. There is literally only one desk open in this class!

I raise my hand slowly, I know everyone gets startled if I make sudden movements. (L/n) looks a little confused at first as the teacher whispers something to her. When her eyes find my hand she looks.....relieved?

That surprised me. I had noticed her on the train this morning and that she had followed me after that. I was even late to morning practice because I walked slower to make sure she didn't loose me. She had had a determined, if not reluctant, look on her face when she boarded the train one stop after me. That and the fact that her eyes lit up with some form of recognition when she saw my jacket led me to believe she was new. I know how I come across to people so I decided not to actually interact with her but I still wanted to be helpful. She looked nervous so I assumed she would avoid me at school, just like everyone else.

I was shaken from my reverie by the chair next to mine being moved. I nodded at her trying to keep my face neutral. She caught me off guard again as she giggled.

"Sorry! I'm not laughing at you! It's just that you remind me of one of my friends. He's a big softie too!"

I can feel my ears start to get a little warm.

Her giggle is so cute!

Everyone is always so nervous around me! It's a relief to have someone who seems comfortable from the start. I can feel my curiosity rising. She came to school really early. Was she looking to join a club? Was she worried about getting lost? Did she realize I was the person she followed to school?

"Why did you follow me this morning?"

Crap! I didn't mean to ask that! Especially not out loud? I'm normally really good at keeping my mouth shut!

Her brown eyes widen as she realizes what I asked.

"I-I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to follow you. But I noticed your jacket and I was pretty sure I knew where I was going but I still didn't want to get lost so I tried to not be weird!"

Watching her stumble over her words I realized she was more nervous than I initially thought so I just grunted and turned my attention back to the teacher. Well, I tried to at least. My attention kept drifting over to the girl beside me.

At first glance, she seemed to be taking notes, adjusting her glasses as they slipped down her nose. But as I looked closer I realized that most of her "notes" were little flowers, vines, and other random items doodled across her papers.

"(L/n)-san?"

Her head snapped up as the teacher called her name to answer.

"I'm sorry?"

"Just as I thought, please pay attention in class. This is important information and will be on exams. I think it's best if you complete extra homework to insure you have a firm understanding of the subject."

Ouch! Extra homework on her first day?
