Y/n POV
After lunch classes seemed to drag past. All of our teachers gave an excessive amount of homework. But the worst came from our last class.
"This assignment will be done in pairs and is due Thursday. You will be partnered with your deskmate, no exceptions."
Oh thank God! I thought I would be paired with a stranger!
"So, how do you want to do this? You can come over to mine after school if you want."
"It'll have to be after practice. This is really the worst week to get this assignment."
I could see Aone trying to work out his schedule in his head. At least he was willing to help and not just shove all the work off on me.
"That's fine! I can wait here until you're done or give you my number and text you my address so you can come over after."
"Yeah, that works."
I wrote my number and address down and handed it to him. The final bell rang and we started gathering up our things and walking out. Aone walked me all the way out of the building but split off with a grunt that I took to mean "See you later" before we reached the gate.
Making my way back to the train station was a little nerve wracking without my guide. But I made it. I only had to circle back twice! I decided to shoot my Mom a text about having a classmate over.
Me:
I have a group project assignment
so I'll have a classmate over.Mom:
Alright! Thanks for letting me know.
Dad and I are still at work and your sister is studying at a friend's house.
Can you make dinner?Me:
Sure! Ramen sound OK?Mom:
Sounds perfect! Thanks love!I've been wanting some ramen for a while so this works out nicely. Hopefully this project won't be too difficult!
I decided to go ahead and start dinner once I got home and keep it warm until time to eat (minus the noodles of course! No one wants soggy noodles!) so that I could focus on our assignment when Aone got here. Luckily ramen isn't too complicated and I may even have time to knock out some homework.
Ok, so probably won't get much homework done. But dinner is practically ready and the kitchen is clean! And I'm not completely sure when Aone's practice finishes and it's about 20 minutes total commute to get here.
I can sit and rest for a few minutes and then I'll get started on homework.
I woke up 45 minutes later to my phone buzzing with a few notifications from an unknown number.
Unknown:
Practice is over I'm heading that way now.Unknown:
This is Aone, btw.Unknown:
Almost there.Missed calls: Unknown (2)
Oh no!!!!
Aone's POV
Practice was intense. I expected it to be. What I didn't expect was to not be as tired after. I really don't know if I'm nervous, excited, or both. But I'm going to (l/n)'s house! Will her parents be there? I bet they don't like their daughter hanging out with a brute like me. I sent (l/n) a text after practice and headed out. I was kind of expecting some sort of response but didn't get one!
I forgot to mention it was me!
So I tried again. I was getting closer to her house now; still no response. As I turned the corner onto her street I gave her a call. She didn't answer. When I got to her gate I called again. Still no answer. I was starting to get really concerned and text one more time before knocking.
Me:
I'm pretty sure I'm here.
I could have the wrong house though
🥴🤣As I lifted my hand to knock I heard a couple of small crashes on the other side of the door and a slightly disheveled (l/n) opened the door. It took every ounce of will-power I possessed not to double over laughing!
"I'm so sorry, Aone! I fell asleep!! How long have you been out here?"
"I literally just walked up!"
"Oh thank God! Well, come on in! My parents are still at work and my sister is studying at a friend's house so its just us right now. No awkward introductions yet!"
I stepped inside and took off my shoes before following (l/n) down the hall to what I assumed was her room. As we walked we passed a few different stacks of boxes that seemed to be in varying levels of emptiness.
"Still unpacking?"
"Yeah, and my room is probably the worst. I guess I still haven't accepted the move." She said this as she opened the door to a bedroom that was completely undecorated excluding a bed which was nicely made and a desk with a lamp. "Maybe we should actually work at the kitchen table."
"Wherever your comfortable. It is your house after all."
"Sorry, I guess I didn't really think this through when I said we could work at my house, huh?"
"I really don't mind. I'll even help you unpack if you want."
"Thanks, but we should probably work on the project first. The more we get done today the less we have to worry about later!"
We decided to just sit on her bed and work. We were facing each other with our legs crossed and our notebooks, textbooks, and laptops spread out between us. I'm not sure how much time had passed when we heard the front door open and a few different voices yell.
"We're home!"
"Welcome back!"
It was interesting to hear how they just yelled back and forth instead of walking into the other room.
"Dinner is ready except for the noodles!"
I hadn't even thought about dinner but as soon as (l/n) mentioned it my stomach growled.
"Haha! You're welcome to stay. I made sure to make enough for company too!"
"Thanks, (l/n). But I probably should head home. My mother will be upset if I'm too late."
"I understand. Oh, and you can call me (y/n). Especially since it would he confusing while you're here. There are a total of six (l/n)es when we're all together!"
"Alright."
We made our way out of her room and I awkwardly bowed to her parents as I said hello and goodbye at the same time. It took a little convincing to get (y/n)'s mother to let me leave without eating but I assured her that I would be fine until I got home.
I only realized after I had already boarded the train that I missed the perfect chance to taste (y/n)'s cooking.
