Y/n Pov

Ready for what now????

Hold the phone! He just asked if I was ready for our "study date"? Is this considered a date? Is he considering this a date?

I could feel my heart beating rapidly and if he gets any closer he'll probably be able to hear it! Of course, thats when I realized that I hadn't moved at all and bolted up off the bleachers.

"R-ready! Yeah!"

Stop stuttering. It's fine! Just breathe! Nothings changed, he just called it a date. That doesn't mean it is a date or that he actually considers it one! He said "study date" not just "date"! He probably doesn't actually consider it a date.

He grinned and turned around to lead the way. I guess he was still warm from practice cause the tips of his ears were turning red.

"Are you sure you don't want to change out of your practice clothes?"

"Saves time."

"Oh right! Makes sense, I suppose."

See, there was nothing for me to even get flustered over. He's just trying to get this over with so he can stop leading me around all the time!

Making our way to the station, I noticed that the sky was darker than i was expecting. Maybe practice went a little long? I haven't actually looked at the time yet, after all.

Finally on our train we sat in silence for the whole ride. I would like to say it was a comfortable silence but every time I looked over at him I could feel my face heat up and my heart rate increase. So I may have made things a little awkward!

I almost stood up to leave out of habit when my stop came. Noticing me twitch in my seat, Aone let out a small chuckle.

Oh my God! That is the best sound I think I have ever heard!

"U-um...thanks. I actually think your laugh sounds better though."

Crap! I said that out loud! What the mess are you thinking, (y/n)! You have to remain in control of yourself!

"Ha ha! That's very kind of you to say!"

Excellent recovery (y/n).....not.

"So how many stops do we have after mine?"

"It's just the next stop."

"Oh! So not too far at all!"

"Nope."

Silence fell between us again as the train began to slow. I stayed about a half a step behind Aone on the way out since I didn't actually know where I was going. I tried to keep track of everything so I could remember the way back without making Aone guide me again, but it had gotten even darker since we left the school.

Just as we turned to make our way up to the door of what I assumed was his house, thunder rolled in the distance and few drops of water landed on my face.

Oh no! I completely forgot to check the weather this morning!

Aone's POV

Thunder. Right. I knew there was a chance of storms today, but I really thought it wasn't supposed to start until much later this evening.

After unlocking the door I turned to see (y/n) standing stock still. Her brown eyes wide and a rather nervous look painted across her face.

"Are yo-"

I was interrupted by a couple different things all happening practically simultaneously. Another crash of thunder sounded much closer than the last. (Y/n) squeaked and bolted forward. I had assumed she would just move straight past me and into the house but that was not the case. She had, apparently instinctively, reached for the closest item to cling onto for support. That turned out to be me. Or rather my arm.

She noticed what she had done and backed off stuttering an apology.

"S-so-sorry Aone! I just don't like storms very much."

Her face had turned a deep shade of red. If she didn't look quite so scared I would have said it was adorable.

"It's alright. Why don't we go on inside out of this weather."

Droplets had started to fall a little harder and I could see her starting to shiver. Luckily since we were literally at my front door neither of us were actually soaked.

Still I didn't want her to catch a cold so I ushered her inside and went to grab a towel to at least dry her hair.

She hadn't moved very far since we entered. It seems she had taken off her shoes, moved about a foot into the house and stopped. I could hear the rain on the roof of the house and decided it might be time for a distraction.

"Why don't we work in the dining room. That way I can make some snacks for us and still be able to talk everything over."

She nodded and quietly followed me further into the house. We set all our work out on the table and I stepped into the connected kitchen to begin fixing some snacks.

"I hope you're okay with something simple. I'm not exactly the best cook! Ha ha ha!"

She giggled and if it wasn't storming outside I would have sworn the sun was shining 20 times brighter!

Get a grip, Aone! You have to keep her distracted from the storm!

As I piddled around the kitchen (y/n) started calling out the next questions to be addressed for our assignment. I made sure to still contribute to the schoolwork as best I could as I plated the quickly, slightly sloppily, thrown together snacks and fixed some tea to go with it.

Walking back to the table I noticed just how concentrated (y/n) had become. Her light brown hair had been tucked behind her ears, her brow had been drawn down towards the tops of her glasses and her nose scrunched up just a bit. She was so focused she didn't even register that I had come over.
I sat the plates down and gently reached over to place my pointer finger on the center of her forhead.

"You'll get wrinkles if you keep making that face."

She started just a little at my touch but laughed once she realized how she had been sitting.

The door opened and I heard my mom call out.

"I'm home!"

I went to greet her in the hall to find her counting shoes.

"Seems we have company, Aone."

She smiled up at me.

"Yes. (Y/n) is here to work on a project for class."

"Wonderful. Although you might want to have her contact her parents about staying the night. The storm is just going to get worse from here and I really don't want to get back out there in this."

Stay the night!?!?! I hadn't even thought about that!
