I woke up earlier then normal. Emerald was sitting in the kitchen. I went to the bathroom to clean up and change. It was a chilly morning so I grabbed a pair of jeans, my combat boots , a white tank top and my leather jacket and the locket that's was stars. I went over to emerald gave him a quick pay on the head and told him I'd be back.
I went to the boardwalk first to see what shops that were open. One of the only shops open that looked promising was the comic book shop that David had nodded towards the other night. I walked in and saw shelf's upon shelf's of comic books, posters, basically anything to do with comics it was there. There was an older gentleman behind the counter he looked like he could be my fathers age if he were still alive.
His eyes kept following me around the store , I could feel another pair of eyes on me. Another man was standing across from me staring at me. I couldn't tell if he was starting at my boobs or my necklace. " what are you staring at?" I asked he looked like he was in a daze. His voice was rough, he wore a bandanna on his head, I could tell his hair line was receding quite a bit. "That necklace where'd you get it?" He said never taking his eyes off of it. "Oh this old thing, it was given to me after my birth mother died." " Alan get over here!" The rough voiced guy yelled. "Isn't that the necklace we gave Star?" The other gentleman that was behind the counter walked over looked at it and nodded.
They knew my birth mother, does that mean they know about David and the boys? "How do you know Star?" I asked with a bit of hesitant in my voice. "We'll talk in the back, follow me." Alan had said. We walked to the back room, it looked like it was used for their over stock. "Yes, we know Star, and Michael and his little brother Sam. Sam came to us with an issue and it didn't end well." Just then the roughed voice guy lifted up his shirt and showed me a giant scar on his back. " sorry where are my manners this is my brother Edgar. He's not a real big people person. I'm going to tell you what we told Sam, here's our number pray that you won't need to call us." Alan had said while handing me a piece of paper. " I'm not sure what you mean by needing you." I said all confused. "We've seen you hanging around with those things. We know what they are. We left them alone all these years because of the promise we made to Star and Michael. The promise we made was to stay clear of them unless you showed up and they took an interest in you." Edgar said while putting his shirt back on.
" well I can assure you I can handle things for myself. But thanks." I swung open the door and left. I headed to the store , grabbed a few things, I needed more cleaners for the house. I stopped in the garden area and grabbed some flower seeds. They didn't have a big selection but I found some flowers that I've always wanted to plant. I looked at the clock by the register, there was no way it was already 3. I hurried back home and put the groceries away. I walked into the living room looking at my painting above the fireplace. I took it down and rode over to the cave. I walked in quietly and sat it on David's wheelchair. I found some paper and a pencil and started to write "I know you said you didn't want this but take it as a gift. When I painted this I had a feeling I was going to give it to someone one day. Your the only person who ever noticed it besides the judges. Sincerely Rin." I walked out of the cave and headed home to plant the flower seeds.
