Confusion sucks the life out of all of us. It gives us something to think about. Something to ponder on.
But when it's about a certain attraction you have for someone, should it be taken differently? Or should you just let it go and pretend that things are just the same as they will always be?
I decided to take Joanne home along with her flat mate na hindi pa masyadong tinatablan ng nainom namin. I knew that I might become the designated driver so I chose not to drink too much.
"Naku, sabi naman kasing wag masyadong uminom. Lagot ako nito pag di nagising mamaya."
"Just give her some aspirin. I'm sure she'll be okay."
"Thank you Austin ha. Kita nalang tayo sa floor mamaya."
"Yep. See you."
Agad na akong bumaba, ready to go home. I have decided not to care, kahit ngayong araw lang na 'to about Sari.
Just when those thoughts were running on my mind, my phone rang. It was Travis.
"Bro?"
"Pare sa'n ka na. Balikan mo naman kami dito. Sari is drunk."
My brows arched at what he just said.
"Akala ko ba hindi siya nalalasing?"
"Well, they're wrong. She's drunk and she's way worse than Melai."
"Bakit?"
"She's kind of playing on the street right now."
"What do you mean playing on the street?"
"Pare puntahan mo na lang kami dito."
"Fine. I'm on my way."
I sighed in surrender. Paano ka nga ba tatakas sa isang Sarika Montebon?
I drove as fast as I can back to the karaoke bar where we were hanging out. It's almost noon and honestly, gustong-gusto ko nang matulog.
I arrived back on the karaoke place in about thirty minutes. Nakatayo na si Sari sa labas at nag-iisa lang. Before I could even stop the car, I dialed Travis' number once again.
"Akala ko ba lasing?"
"Bro, sorry she insisted na tawagan kita. Hindi ko naman pwedeng hindian. And I think you two really have to talk. Para kaming pinapatay sa titig pa lang ni Sari eh. Parang ang laki ng atraso mo."
As soon as I was in front of her, I turned off the phone and ended the call. She was staring straight at me.
"You done playing with your doll?" she asked filled with boredom.
"What do you need from me?"
"I'm craving for some pares. Samahan mo ako."
"I wanna go to sleep. I'm tired."
"Then let's eat at your house."
"Fine."
She turned towards the passenger's seat. I had no choice but to agree to what she wants. We dropped by a store serving pares. She ordered a pair of both the mami and the soup kasama na din bone marrow.
Without saying a word, I drove back to my condo. As soon as we were inside the unit, I walked back to my room, took off my shoes and slump my tired body into the bed.
I couldn't care less if she's left on her own in my kitchen.
I closed my eyes, trying to forget that she's just a few inches away from me.
