I sit by the fire that I built downstairs in the sitting area. A book sits in my lap as I stare at it, but I can't focus on the words. I can only focus on what Evelyn might think, even if she is back.
What if she hates me, Kai, Josie, and Katherine because we sided with the Mikaelsons? Does she even love me anymore? Has she ever loved me? What if she doesn't? I care about her too much to just let her go.
"What's got you thinking so hard?" The brunette from earlier asks, and I shrug. "Sorry, I'm Sam." She introduces herself, and I nod.
"Oliver." I copy.
"Do you remember me?" I look at her confused. "I was locked in your basement. How can you not remember me?" She asks, laughing lightly.
"Barely went down there. Was barely even there." I mumble, widening my eyes before returning them to their normal size.
"Look, I'm sorry about how Julianna was earlier. She's still...adjusting to the way things are today." She mumbles, and I look up, confused. "Me and Julianna died in two-thousand-eight. We were brought back and we hid until Evelyn found us. She tortured us, we died again during a break-in, then the blonde brought us back to help with a spell." She explains, saying it so casually.
"So, you've died twice?" She nods. I turn back to my book, but, again, I can't focus.
"You're worrying about her, aren't you?" She asks, making me look at her confused. "About Evelyn." She elaborated.
I sigh in defeat. "I'm scared. I'm afraid that she's gonna think I'm a traitor and hate me. I'm afraid I'm gonna lose her and I'll be able to do nothing but stand and watch." I explain, and she nods.
"It's okay." Sam says, her voice soft.
"Sam, why are you talking to this ignorant douche?" Julianna asks, and I shut my book.
"And that is my cue to go." I mutter, standing up. I walk away, but I can hear them talking.
"Stop being so rude to him. You don't know what he's going through." I hear Sam say before I make it to Evelyn's room.
I lay down and instantly, I fall asleep.
