The sunlight warms my skin as it shines down on me, waking me up somewhat peacefully. My head pounds like crazy and I'm so hungry.
I tear my eyes open, looking around the room. Two blood bags sit on my nightstand and I hastily grab them, tearing them open. After I down them all, my hunger settles down. I rub my face as I sit criss-crossed on the bed.
"Evelyn." Quinn's voice speaks. I speed out of bed, hiding in the corner. "Ev, it's me." She says as I locate her on the other side of my bed.
"Y-You're supposed to be dead. You're not real!" I shout, holding a hand out.
"You saw me yesterday. The hell you mean I'm not real?" She retorts, looking confused, and offended, as she places a hand on her hip.
"I was barely even alive yesterday! I threw up all the blood in my system and blacked out. I wasn't sure if I was hallucinating or not. I'm still not sure!" I exclaim.
"What's going on?" Ady questions from the couch, tiredly.
"Evelyn?" Mom calls.
"EVERYBODY SHUT UP!" I scream, my voice echoing around the room, the building shaking, as the voices grow overwhelming.
Everyone stays silent.
Quinn and Ady are on the other side of my bed, Angel is beside me, and my mom entered the room. "What happened while I was gone?" I ask slowly, looking at the three in my room. I don't spare a glance at Angel.
She left me. She left me alone. So much for guardian angel.
"We brought Quinn and Adelaide back to help find you." Mom explains.
I turn to them and stare in shock. "They're really here?" I ask, turning to my mom. She smiles and nods. I run to them, launching myself into their arms. They stumble but catch me, hugging me back. When I pull away, I just stare at them. They're really here. Tears slide down my face as I stare at my best friends.
The ones I killed.
"I'm so sorry." I whisper.
"It's fine, Ev. You weren't in the right mindset." Ady says, her voice reassuring.
"It's not fine. I murdered you with my bare hands. You can't forgive me." I state, sitting down on my bed.
