Transition

Isolated from the eyes and faces
In a dark place safe from harsh surprises
Balanced in a state of apprehension
Missing out on everything good and bad

Friends move in and out along the way
Years pass without stories to tell
My soul slowly filled with restlessness
The mind wanders to something new

To live a different way of life
Bathing in the light of attention
People and places, a part of the times
An uneasy but necessary transition

It started with an immediate action
Turbulent and rash as a forest fire
All was soot after the flames died down
Like lying in the midst of an apocalypse

But fire does not only bring destruction
It transforms what is dead into fuel for life
Refined from the ashes of circumstance
I take another step, measured and cautious

Trials coalesce into a diamond of resolve
Desire for change overwhelms contentment
Thus the transformation continues
Unabated, begging for completion
