Sleepwalk Backwards

Eyes closed
Listing lazily in unconsciousness
Wisps of darkness against a starless void
Light parts my eyes
I find myself still lingering in yesterday
Progress stuck in tomorrow

While the sun still shines
Attempts to put everything back in place
Wanting desparately to win the day
Honest sacrifices made
Happiness and satisfaction clashing
My eyes have earned their rest

Judgmental gazes
Chiseled into a statue of who I used to be
Molded by memories not my own
Sleepwalk backwards
Glory in the golden past
Peaks breaking in waves of memory
