A prisoner in a masterpiece
The smoothest colors flourish on
Melding empty space together
Our souls painting till we're gone
From barren lands, fading out
As if twilight is as strong as day
Light struggles to escape
Now encroaching darkness may
Suffocate the pangs of life
A pulse to slow and deepen still
The pieces shifting out of place
Out of sight, the people will
Fight each other day and night
Smudge and smeer the colors far
Grotesque scenes in disarray
Shattered whole, the pieces are
Lost in time, they dissappear
But there behind a broken heart
Colors stir and grow anew
Our souls to fill the hollow art
Inside the painted picture perfect
The likes of which is dear to me
Colors that always swirl together
To make it feel like we are free
