Mitsuki sighed. He wasn't too fond of his current situation right now, but it wasn't as if he had any choice. Gritting his teeth, he looked behind him again, confirming for the hundredth time that the shinobi were still following him.
The boy frowned, calculating his chances for running away once again. He was met with the same conclusion. They were watching him like a hawk. There's no way he could escape unnoticed.
And if he tried to fight them... well these people were undoubtedly powerful, and Mitsuki didnt think he could take a fight against all of them.
Not to mention he couldn't leave Akio in a foreign village all by herself. Mitsuki shook his head. No need to ponder over things that aren't gonna happen. He might as well satisfy their demands and be on his way quickly.
"This way." Mitsuki did NOT jump when the man from before, Fuyoku, placed a hand on his shoulder to steer the boy to the right. Mitsuki fought the urge to bite the hand on his shoulder.
"Alright." He forced a polite smile onto his face. Fuyoku hummed, leading to the boy to a large staircase. Mitsuki's jaw nearly dropped to the floor. The building sitting on top of the staircase was elaborately designed, the sight all in itself breathtaking.
Fuyoku chuckled. "Gorgeous isnt it? It's our village pride." Mitsuki hummed. Where was he anyways? He let himself be led to the front of the building, only to find his vision obscured all of a sudden.
Enveloped in black, Mitsuki panicked. "Woah, boy, calm down." MItsuki scowled. It was Fuyoku's voice. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" The man didnt respond.
Mitsuki tried to reach up and touch his eyes, only to find nothing out of the ordinary. "Its a jutsu, dont bother trying to dispel it. Now, we have some questions for you. Please answer as honestly as you can."
Mitsuki tried to back away, but he found the wall much quicker than he had anticipated. "What are you doing?"
"Please calm down." BUt Mitsuki wasnt listening. He panicked, drawing in shorter and shorter breaths. "Let me out. Please, Ill answer anything you want, just stop this jutsu." When there was no response, Mitsuki knee's buckled to the ground.
"Shit! Dammit, screw procedure. I think he's having a panic attack. Dispel the damn jusu already." Mitsuki could vaugely hear Fuyoku's voice over the screaming in his ears.
It was so loud. So loud and yet not close to loud enough. And the darkness, god it was so dark. "Parent? PARENT? Please let me out. I promise I won't try to leave again."
"Dammit! I told you to dispel the jutsu!"
"But sir, procedure calls that he doesn't see any of our face-"
"BULLSHIT! Dispel the damn thing!"
Mitsuki sobbed. "I'm so sorry. I won't try to leave the basement again. I won't go outside again, please parent, it's been... it... it been so... long."
"Sir he could be faking. You said yourself he was trained."
"He's just a CHILD!"
Silence. Then a thud. "Fine. I'll dispel it my damn self."
"Wait sir-"
Huh? Is that... light? Mitsuki gasped for air, light flooding in his eyes to reveal the man from earlier standing in front of him, holding a glass of water. "You ok kid?"
Mitsuki frowned, the shame settling in as he wiped away the lingering tears on his face. "I'm sorry that was improper of me." Fuyoku seemed taken aback, only for the shock to be replaced with a displeased face.
"Where are your parents, kid?" Mitsuki flinched. "My parent, he... no. I don't have any parents." Fuyoku sighed. "Come, ill take you back to my house. You need rest, if at least for a night."
"But what about the questioning?" Mitsuki turned his head to see a small lanky man, face red and furious.
One glare from Fuyoku shut him up. "You better watch your place. I knew from the start this boy was innocent, yet you insisted we take him in as per the procedure." He scowled, causing the much smaller man to flinch. "He saved my daughter damn it, and this is how we repay him?"
Mitsuki blinked. Fuyoku turned a gentler gaze to him. "Come, let's go." Mitsuki shook his head. "No, I cant."
"Listen, kid, I get that you have places to be, but your mind and body need rest. Especially after fighting that shinobi and saving my daughter." No one pointed out his obvious avoidance of the recent event. He sighed. "I won't take no for an answer."
Mitsuki sighed. "Fine, but-"
"No buts." Fuyoku raised an eyebrow.
Mitsuki shot a glare at him. "BUT!" He emphasized the word sternly. "I ask that you extend the invitation to a little girl named Akio."
Fuyoku blinked. "Sure that can be arranged. She your sister?" Mitsuki blinked. He didn't know how to answer that. She wasn't his sister, but it didn't feel right to say no at that time. Not after everything they've been through.
"Yes." He spoke without thinking.
Fuyoku nodded. "Alright. Come, let's go get her."

Mitsuki let out a breath he didn't know he'd been holding in. "Akio!" The girl swirled around from her seat at a restaurant table. She threw down the soft bun she had been eating, running over to envelop Mitsuki in a hug. "Mitsuki!"
The boy kneeled down to recept her. He laughed. "Akio, are you ok?" The redhead eagerly nodded. "A nice man took care of me while you were gone." She looked towards an approaching elderly man with a long cane. He smiled gently at Mitsuki.
"Ah, you must be her older brother. She talks much of you." He chuckled. "Very cautious as well. Wouldn't accept the food I gave her until I took a bite of it myself." Mitsuki smiled at Akio. "Good girl," he spoke, gently pinching her cheeks.
Fuyoku cleared his throat. Mitsuki startled, and Akio immediately hid behind his back.
He quickly stood up, brushing the dust off his pants. "Ah sorry I forgot. Akio, this is Fuyoku-san. We'll be staying with him for a night."
The girl nodded, still eyeing him warily. She turned to Mitsuki, asking a silent question. Do you trust him? Mitsuki shrugged. He won't harm us, I can be sure of that.
Fuyoku hummed, taking note of their interactions. These children... what kind of life have they been living up until now?
"Come, children. It's getting late, we should head out." Mitsuki nodded, gripping Akio's hand in his.
My updates are getting more and more irregular. Sorry for that lol. Anyways I promise some fluff in the next chapter!!
