Quan Lei smiled at Jennie before looking at Lisa. Then, he slowly raised an eyebrow at the latter. It was clearly an open provocation.
"21 million," the focus of the crowd was then stolen from Quan Lei, as they looked at the middle-aged man.
"22 million," this time, another woman joined the bidding. The woman was on a call, so many of them assumed that the original bidder was not her, instead, it was the person on the other end of the phone.
"25 million," the middle-aged man responded, kindly looking at his wife, who was sitting next to him.
This interaction hadn't gone unnoticed by both Jennie and Lisa, as both of them knew that this man and his wife would be killed soon after obtaining the watch.
"27 million," again it was Quan Lei. .
"30 million," the woman on the phone said without batting an eye.
"31 million," Quan Lei responded, his gaze never leaving Jennie. Seeing Jennie ignore him, only made Quan Lei more fierce, to the point that even Lisa noticed his passionate gaze towards Jennie.
"Ignore him." Jennie grabbed Lisa's arms to get his attention. "He is not worth it."
"35 million," the middle-aged man said.
"38," Quan Lei answered quickly.
However, everyone was stunned when the woman on the phone suddenly blurted, "Fifty million."
Fifty million dollars? For a piece of watch? Who in their right mind would do something so crazy?
Even Quan Lei stared at the woman in astonishment. He then decided to just give up this piece... Or not.
However, Jennie's reaction was different. She furrowed her brows, as she wondered if the things that had happened in her previous life, would happen again. If so, who could be the unlucky person behind the phone call?
"Fifty million, going once? Going twice? SOLD! Let's congratulate the madam for acquiring Timeless, an incredible piece of jewelry," the auction manager, together with many guests, applauded."This marks the end of our auction for tonight. However, there will still be more entertainment following this. Please enjoy."
After the auction manager left the stage, many of the guests also got up and started talking, including Lisa and Jennie.
"I did not expect to see you here," Quan Lei suddenly said as he walked to Jennie. As a bodyguard, Jennie was walking behind Lisa. "You look good. I did not expect to see you look so... regal."
"Mr. Quan, If you do not have anything important to say, please do not disturb us." she said without diverting her gaze from Lisa. They were currently on their way to the private lounge of the venue, to meet some of Marco's acquaintances in the business world.
Sensing the heavy atmosphere around Jennie, Lisa's steps halted as he turned his head towards her. Lisa immediately strode towards Jennie, his gaze cold and dark. "Move."
"Relax lover boy... we were just talking." Quan Lei faked a laugh."You seem so tensed around me Mr. Manoban... May I know why?"
Lisa squinted his eyes at Quan Lei. He already knew that Quan Lei had followed them here, but he had never expected him to attend this gala. After all, the Quan Family should not have had the qualification to attend this party.
It seemed that his initial doubts were actually true.
He then leaned towards Quan Lei's ear and murmured, "I know what you want... but you will never succeed. Keep that in mind."
Quan Lei's eyes sparkled when he heard Lisa's words. Then he watched him walk away while holding hands with Jennie.
It seemed that Lisa had already known about his purpose. This should make the show more challenging, right?
"She seems to hate you." Quan Lei heard a soft voice next to him. He turned his head and almost laughed out loud when he saw that it was Nancy ,Jennie's sister. This should be fun.
"Not as much as he hates you," he answered as he stared at Nancy. The woman in front of him looked so vulnerable, her slender neck so exquisite, making him think of wrapping his hands around it and choke her to death.
She nervously laughed, looking at the stranger in front of her, who was staring at her like his prey. She lowered her head and blushed, as she felt his burning gaze towards her. she thought that the stranger, who obviously liked Jennie, had already switched his feelings towards her. After all, love at first sight, did existed, right?
Of course, if Nancy knew that Quan Lei only wanted to break her neck, then it would have been totally a different story.
"I am Kim Nancy, Jennie's sister."
"I know." He answered. "I've seen your stupid action once."
Nancy instantly bit her lips at Quan Lei's words. "May I know who are you?"
"You don't deserve to know that." Quan Lei hissed before walking away from her. He hated this type of women the most. Thinking about the things that Nancy had done to Jennie before, only made him hate her even more.
What a nasty woman. He wondered what could be that woman's purpose of getting close to Jennie. Did she want to take Lisa away from Jennie?
The thought of Nancy causing chaos between Jennie and Lisa instantly made Quan Lei beam with happiness. Maybe, coming here was not a bad idea after all.
