“Sadie! We been through this. Paige left me for her parents. She doesn’t want me. We’re done. Through. Finished” I said.

“That just can’t be right. I mean like when you were in the hospital, Paige was right there. Like not even freaking Jesus could pull her away from you. She spent every second of every minute, of every hour of everyday with you” Sadie said.

“Sadie, I don’t want to talk about this. Just let it be, I have, and you should too” I said.

“So what’s up with you and Cat” Sadie asked.

“Nothing, nothing at all. Last night we spent a whole night watching her favorite cooking show” I said.

“She’s so boring! I miss the redhead! She was exciting! Why!” Sadie said as she over dramatically cried.

“Just go. Sadie just go ok. Paige and I will never be again” I said.

“That’s messed up. You guys were cute together” Sadie said.

“Umm yeah I guess. So hey what are you doing today” I said.

“Nothing, nothing at all” Sadie said.

“So like you want to take me to get a car” I asked.

“What? Get a car? What” Sadie said.

“Yeah I need to buy me a car” I said.

“What you been saving up or something” Sadie asked.

“No, Mitch, you know from the butcher’s shop. He gave this huge check, and like told me to get a car, because he was tired of me walking to work” I said.

“Wait minute Lydia, are you sleeping with that guy or something” Sadie said suspiciously. I punched her in her arm.

“No! Of course not! You fool!” I said.

“Hey man! Ouch! Ok! Gosh, I was just asking” Sadie said rubbing her arm.

“No of course not. He’s just a really friendly guy. So will you take me or will you not” I said.

“Sure, let me get dressed. I’ll be ready in a few. But is umm Mitch hiring cause I could use a check too, ya know what I’m saying” Sadie laughed.

“Anyway” I said. As soon as Sadie was dressed, we headed for the nearest car dealership. Picking out a car was harder than I thought. I wanted something slick, cool, and fast. I wanted it to be sporty, and fuel efficient.

So I eventually got me a candy apple red drop top Ford Mustang. It was sexy, it was fast, it was cool, and it priced perfectly. As I was signing the paperwork, the only person I thought of was Cat. I would surprise her, with my new Mustang. After the paper’s were signed, I was out of there. Keys in hand, and I loved it. It had been awhile since I drove a car. Last time I drove a car, was when I was 18, and my dad forced to take the driver’s test. I said I didn’t need a license, for one I didn’t have a car. And for two I didn’t have a need to drive. But he said just in case. So I did, and I passed, and now I was back behind the wheel.

“Can we trade cars? Maybe” Sadie said.

“Girl bye” I said with a laugh.

“That ride is so hot. Oh my gosh that’s like the player car of the year” Sadie said.

“I know, it’s awesome” I said as I got in. Oh boy the smell of a new car, and the feel of it. I couldn’t wait to drive.

“Gosh Lydia! You know we can totally date now. I’ll be your lady, and be my baby, and we ride off into the sunset together” Sadie said.
