"Are you ever going to put that book away and come to bed?" Finnian demanded of his now wife, Queen Courtney of Agamar. She looked up from her current page and glared at him. "Only when I am satisfied with my current reality will I remove myself from the world of delightful fiction that succeeds where my life has failed." She replied as she looked back down to her book. Finnian only groaned as he turned around and returned to their shared room. "Besides I know you are sleeping with a different whore each night and I would rather not interrupt you and your corrupt acts of immorality." She muttered under her breath as she watched the king walk away in her peripheral vision. It was no secret to her and the staff of Finnian's palace that he routinely cheated on her. Courtney refused to allow him any sexual pleasure so he found it elsewhere with any slut willing to sleep with the married king. It hurt Courtney, of course it hurt her. Not only was she in an unhappy marriage because the fate of her people depended on it, but it did not help that her partner was unfaithful. The queen sighed as she rested her book beside her and pulled out a piece of parchment to begin writing a letter.
My dearest Fives,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. I miss you, my love. I miss you more with each passing day. I am married by now, if you haven't already heard and I am beyond miserable. My husband, king Finnian, not only is a self absorbed fool that only cares for himself but is also unfaithful and refuses to understand the workings of my mind like you did. He sleeps with a different woman every night leaving me alone to seek refuge for myself. But do not worry about me, my love, I am devising a plan to set things straight. I am devising a plan to ruin Finnian once and for all and to finally return to you. And not to brag, but we both know how sharp my mind is. There is no way I will fail. I will see you soon, I promise.
Yours,
Queen Courtney CantoaCourtney placed the letter in an envelope but refrained from stamping it with the wax seal of the queen of Agamar. Instead she took a stray piece of twine and looped a single blue rose through it and tied it to the envelope. Fives would know the significance of this but no one else on Agamar would know. The blue rose was Courtney's royal symbol on her home world of Atla. All the sisters had a flower assigned to them as their own royal symbol but Courtney's was the rose and Fives knew this. However, on Agamar things were quite different. Finnian made sure her past of Atla was long hidden away so she couldn't remember it but also so the citizens wouldn't know what an intelligent queen they now had. They believed she was just another empty headed princess who despised their king for no good reason. But soon they would know the truth, soon everyone would know the truth about their beloved king and his terrible adulterous habits.
"Pst! Your highness!" Courtney looked up from her letter. "Kali," Courtney said as her eyes focused on a girl who approached her. Her lady's maid, Kali had remained loyal to her rather then to her king, and Courtney was most grateful for it. Kali knew of her plan and had also agreed to help her. Kali could see how unhappy Courtney was while she was on Agamar and she had put the emotions of her queen above her loyalties to her king who, behind closed doors, seemed to be rather much like that of a pig. "He has just brought another girl back to your room." Kali told her, handing the queen a burning candle to provide her with a light source in the darkness of the night. "You better act now if you are going to, while he is distracted." Kali added and Courtney flashed her a kind smile. "Thank you my dear." She said as she stood from where she had sat to write her letter. "And if you could deliver this to coruscant I would be forever in your debt." She said as she handed the letter to her. Kali knew all about her exchanges with with Fives, and she encouraged them. They were one of the few things, besides books, that made Courtney happy anymore. "Yes of course, my lady." Kali said with a smile. "Now you go, go while there's time." She said and courtney nodded before dashing into the darkness of the castle at night.
The king's study was dark this late at night and the light of her candle was almost not enough to illuminate the large dark room. Courtney set the candle down on Finnian's desk and got to work, seating herself at his desk and pulling a stray piece of parchment and a quill and began to do what she did best, she wrote.
Subjects of Agamar,
I, King Finnian of Agamar, am writing this letter to you all to get a bit of sin off of my back. As you know I have recently taken a wife, queen Courtney Canto of Atla. But alas, what you don't know is what I have done routinely behind not only her back but also the back of my kingdom. Each night I bring back a different woman to our room to gain the pleasure that my wife refuses me because she is not happy here where I have removed all reminders and contact of her home. I take these women and I know them in our own bed, the bed of the king and queen. I have lost count of the amount of women I have had relations with but it will never be enough. Your Queen knows of my affairs and she stays silent to protect our honor because I have forced her to do so. As to where she sleeps when I bring home women to please me I have no idea. Courtney is left to the grace of the wind as far as I am concerned. I wanted to make my subjects aware of my practices.
Your king,
Finnian of AgamarAs soon as she replicated his signature flawlessly she put the quill down. She was satisfied with her work but the letter needed one more thing so that it would be viewed as valid. She reached for a small draw in the king's desk and pulled it open. Inside was a golden wax stamp. She pulled out the glistening object that sparkled in the low light of the candle. She stamped the sign of the king into a pad of ink and then on to the letter she had written in his perfectly forged handwriting. Now, with the king's seal, the letter was completely believable to have come from the king himself. "My lady," Courtney could hear Kali's whispers from outside the study. "Is it finished? Have you done it?" Kali asked and Courtney smiled as she brought the letter outside of the study with her candle in her other hand. "It is done." She told her and handed the letter to her. "Make as many copies of this as possible. Get it everywhere, in every home, in every shop, and every market by morning." She told her and Kali nodded, taking the letter and running off with it to do the Queen's work.
