I woke up late in the morning, feeling energized. With a stretch, I sat up and looked around my bedroom. It was small but cozy. Branching off from the room was a bathroom, which included a shower. I yawned, deciding that I would need to decorate the room if I was going to be staying here for the rest of the school year.
I took a hot shower before wandering out of my bedroom, making sure that the door was locked behind me. Headmaster Dumbledore had enchanted the door so that it would only open for my wand.
I made my way to the Great Hall, finding some students milling around. Most of them, however, were still in bed, taking advantage of the opportunity to sleep in.
"Goodmorning, Miss Y/L/N," Hermione said as I walked by her table, chipper as always.
"Goodmorning, Hermione," I said and smiled at the girl. "I read your paper for Defense Against the Dark Arts. It was very detailed. I was impressed."
Hermione beamed in response. With a quick goodbye, I sat down at the teacher's table, pouring myself a cup of tea from a kettle that was on the table.
"Goodmorning," I said and smiled at one of the professors who was seated at the table. His eyes flickered to me from either side of his large, hooked nose, black and cold.
"You're Lupin's assistant?"
I nodded.
The man tutted in response, looking away from me. I frowned to myself and turned my attention to the man on the other side of me. He was the biggest person I had ever seen, towering over me even as he sat.
"Excuse me," I said as I reached across him to grab a piece of toast.
"Ah, you're the new assistant," the man said with a friendly grin.
"And you're Hagrid?" I guessed. "The third years were talking about how much they enjoyed your class when they were in Defence Against the Dark Arts yesterday. A few wrote about how excited they were to learn more about your class in one of their assignments."
Hagrid's face flushed red as a smile spread across his face. "Did they now?"
"They did, and I have to say, I was quite intrigued," I said. "Hagrid, would you happen to know if there's somewhere I could go to get some things to make my room a little more... homey?"
"You could go on down to Hogsmeade," he said. "It's not a far walk and they have plenty of shops down there."
"Thank you," I said and smiled. "I hope I'll hear more about your amazing classes." I finished my tea and stood. Hagrid's face flushed even more, his smile broadening.
I walked quickly to my room, grabbing some money before searching for someone to direct me to Hogsmeade.
"Professor McGonagall," I said as I spotted her walking in the hallway. She turned to face me, watching with a stoic face as I jogged to her. "Hi."
"Hello, Miss Y/L/N."
"Would it be possible for me to go to Hogsmeade today? I'm not sure if I'm supposed to leave here," I said, walking with her as she continued walking.
"You may come and go as you please when you don't have classes, so long as Professor Lupin doesn't ask you to do anything else," she said. "However, we don't have transport to Hogsmeade as we usually would when the students have their trip to the town."
"That's alright. I don't mind walking," I said. "Where do I go?"
"If you follow the path that the carriages took to bring the students from the Platform to the castle, it'll bring you directly to Hogsmeade," she said. "The walk should only take twenty minutes."
